END OF MISSION REPORT: No One Attending Memorial Service, Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK

Wednesday, 04 December 2019 was a beautiful sunny Oklahoma day. The PGR staged and briefed at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Flags were posted around the Committal Shelter prior to the service. Today, Chaplain Forrest Kirk from the Muskogee VA Hospital was in charge of the service. At the conclusion of Chaplain Kirk’s message, Muskogee American Legion Post #15 came forward, a three round volley was fired, Echo Taps was played by Buglers Across America, the flag was folded and presented to a representative of the cemetery. The PGR Invocation Letter was read and a copy for each family was presented to the cemetery representative to be mailed to each Heroes loved one. The service was closed and all in attendance were dismissed. Posted flags were retrieved and prepared for the next mission. “Thank you” to all who participated in todays Memorial Service.

    We honored the following veterans:

    Carl Cannon, US Navy, Vietnam

    Philip Heid, USAF, Vietnam

    John Vandenberg, USAF, Vietnam

    Gregory Corry, US Army, Vietnam

    James Scheetz, USAF, Vietnam

    Michael Fugate, US Navy, Vietnam

THE NATION THAT FORGETS ITS DEFENDERS WILL ITSELF BE FORGOTTEN, I PRAY THAT WE NEVER FORGET “THE DEFENDERS OF OUR FREEDON”

    Respectfully submitted:
    Mike “Penni” Pennington
