END OF MISSION REPORT: No One Attending Memorial Service, Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK
Wednesday, 03 July 2019 was a hot and humid Oklahoma day. The PGR staged and briefed at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Flags had been posted around the Committal Shelter and were blowing gently in a warm southerly breeze. Chaplain Forrest Kirk from the Muskogee VA Hospita was in charge of the service today. At the conclusion of Chaplain Kirk’s message, the American Legion Post 56 Honor Guard came forward. A three round volley was fired, Taps were played by Buglers Across America and the flag was presented to a FGNC staff member. The PGR Invocation Letter was read and copies given to the staff to be mailed to the families of the Heroes that were honored today. The service was closed and all in attendance were dismissed. Flags were retrieved and prepared for the next mission. “Thank you” to all who participated in todays Memorial Service.
We honored the following veterans:
John Spencer, US Army
Charles Baughman, USCG, Vietnam
Charles Johnson, US Army, Vietnam
Charles Abeyta, US Army, Vietnam
Kenneth Hughes Jr, US Army, Vietnam
THE NATION THAT FORGETS ITS DEFENDERS WILL ITSELF BE FORGOTTEN, I PRAY THAT WE NEVER FORGET “THE DEFENDERS OF OUR FREEDOM”
Respectfully submitted:
