Honor Mission

ABOUT THE MISSION:

Missing In America Project (MIAP) has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to escort the cremains of three Veterans from the Myrtle Beach, SC area to their final resting place at Florence National Cemetery.  The three honorably discharged veterans include: A/1C Michael Cooper USAF, who served 1970 to 1972; PFC Roy Lee Benson, USA, who served 1967 to 1970; Sgt. Allen Wigfall, USMC, who served 1969 to 1975.
The PGR has been asked to stand for these veterans, to see that they are given the final honors that they deserve. The Patriot Guard Riders are honored to be a part of this mission.  This is a rain or shine mission.

Special Instructions:

Briefing at 12:30 PM. After the briefing, we will escort the MIAP transport vehicle to Florence National Cemetery. We will have LEO assistance from the Aynor Police Department and Horry County Police. Upon arrival at Florence National Cemetery, riders will safely park as directed by FNC staff and join the flag line that is already in place.
Anyone wanting to ride as a group from the south end, meet at: Lowe’s Food, 11903 SC-707, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

Briefing at 1:30 PM. After the briefing, we will establish a flag line and hold it until the ceremony is completed. Riders who were on the escort will join the flag line upon arrival.

ABOUT THE MISSION:

Once a month, Calverton National Cemetery holds a memorial service on the second Wednesday of the month for veterans whose funeral during the prior month had no one in attendance.

This service is for those Veterans that were a direct burial during the previous month. We will be standing for these Veterans that had no family, friends or comrades available to be present for their interment.
