Ride report: For Alton Belote Jr.
It was a beautiful Fall day as 12 Patriots assembled to stand a silent flag line for Alton Parker Belote Jr. We said the pledge of allegiance and Dennis led us in prayer. I conducted the briefing and we proceeded to the shelter. JWAN led the funeral procession to the shelter. Alton’s son gave a very nice eulogy. The Marine Corps Honors team unfolded the flag. Marine Corps League detachment #1311 ceremonial rifle team fired the 3-volley salute, a Marine played Taps, Two of the Marine team folded and presented the flag. The rifle team presented two certificates and 3 spent shells, and I presented the ALR certificate, a condolence card signed by the PGR, the Marine Honors team and the rifle team. I also presented an Angel coin to the widow.
We made a difference for this family today.
Thank you to JWAN for asking me to be Ride Captain, and Knobby for writing up and submitting the mission request. I just had to show up and be the Ride Captain. Thank you to Reuben for the flags, drinks, snacks, and the condolence card. And thank you 12 Patriots for standing the flag line today.
Many thanks to the Patriot Guard, and to Jim and Vicky Warren. You all made my father’s service a beautiful and meaningful event, of which he is so deserving. He loved God, his Country, and his Family. He lived life as an honorable and good man. Thank you again for all you did on this special day of recognition for a great American.
