Honor Mission
Albert M. Martinez

ABOUT THE MISSION:
Albert M. Martinez is a United States Army Veteran. Al joined the Army on July 24, 1968. He entered Active Duty on Sept. 17, 1969. Al’s MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) was 71N20 – Movement Specialist. Al served 2 years, 11 months, and 29 days, including service in Vietnam. On Sept. 15, 1972 Al was transferred to the United States Army Reserves. Having completed his term of obligation, Al was Honorably Discharged on Nov. 2, 1972, having attained the rank of SP5, pay grade E5.Al was awarded the following for his service to our country: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Sharpshooter Badge – Rifle.

* Staging will be on the East side of the building on Morris St.
7:45 AM: Flag Line Set for the arrival of the family.
8:00 AM: Private viewing begins, the flag line will step down.
8:10 AM: Road Guard and Mission Briefing.
8:25 AM: Reset Flag Line for Honorable Transfer.
8:45 AM: Safety Briefing.
9:00 AM: KSU to Queen of Peace Church.
Special Notes: Following CDC guidelines and directions from PGR National & our State Captain, the following precautions need to be followed:

  • If you feel ill or have a temperature, please stay home. We will see you again when you are better.
  • If you have COPD, other respiratory issues, or other medical conditions that make you a high risk we ask that you consider continuing to stand down until conditions improve considerably.
  • Please have a face mask/face covering with you that covers both the mouth & nose. During the mission you will be informed where/if/when it needs to be worn.
  • No handshakes or hugs for greetings and goodbyes – elbow bump is okay.
  • Upon returning the flags to the FC please help wipe/spray the poles with the provided disinfectant.
  • Maintain a minimum of six-foot separation when standing the flag line. Maintain at least 15 feet separation from all family members, cemetery personnel, Honor Guard, funeral home staff, clergy, etc. Honor them and wish them well with our distance.
  • Wash hands before, during (as practical), and after the mission.

If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will be provided.

* Staging will be on the East side of the church. Enter off of 1st St, east of McDonald.
9:00 AM: Set Flag Line for the arrival of our hero.
9:10 AM: Honorable transfer into the church.
9:15 AM: Mass begins, the mission is complete.Military Honors will be at a later date in Tucson.
