HMCS Alan R Martin served his country for 29 years enlisting in the US Navy in 1977 and retiring in 2006. Alan served at many commands and on various ships: HM ‘A’ School; Pharmacy Tech ‘C’ School\, Mayport Branch Medical Clinic; MEDCRU Reserves in Orlando; Naval Hospital Charleston; Surface Force IDC School; USS Paiute (ATF-159); IDC Advanced School; Afloat Training Group\, Pearl Harbor; USS Dewert (FFG-45); Mayport Branch Clinic; USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41); Naval Hospital Jacksonville.
