ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family and friends of HMCS Alan R Martin requested the Patriot Guard Riders presence to escort the remains from Jacksonville Beach to Jacksonville National Cemetery and stand a flag line for his service at the Jacksonville National Cemetery as the family shows their final respects to their hero. HMCS Alan R Martin served his country for 29 years enlisting in the US Navy in 1977 and retiring in 2006. Alan served at many commands and on various ships: HM ‘A’ School; Pharmacy Tech ‘C’ School, Mayport Branch Medical Clinic; MEDCRU Reserves in Orlando; Naval Hospital Charleston; Surface Force IDC School; USS Paiute (ATF-159); IDC Advanced School; Afloat Training Group, Pearl Harbor; USS Dewert (FFG-45); Mayport Branch Clinic; USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41); Naval Hospital Jacksonville. His personal awards include: Navy Commendation Medal (x2); Navy Battle E (x2); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (x4); Sea Service Deployment (x2); Armed Forces Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; NATO Medal; Pistol Expert Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal (x6); Navy Unit Commendation; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
