He served in the Para-Marines which was the best of the best in the USMC. He proudly wore the wings of the USMC Airborne Forces \, he saw action in the battle of Bougainville and again on Iwo Jimo \, he was fortunate to have been on Mt Suribachi and witness the famous flag raising.
