ABOUT THE MISSION:
The Patriot Guard Riders have again been requested to lead the 2019 Patriot Day Memorial Ride and take part in the Elizabeth City Patriot Day Celebration. This will be the second year for this ceremonial ride and event.
This event is conducted to Remembering those 344 Fire Fighters, 72 Police Officers, 8 Paramedics, 55 Military Personnel and over 2500 American Citizens that lost their lives on 9-11-01.
The escort will consist of Law Enforcement, First Responders and Fire Fighting apparatus from the surrounding communities, as well as veteran motorcycle groups.
This year we will be escorting the GZ Flag that flew over the smoldering World Trade Center after the 9-11 attack. (FB for info @GroundZeroFlag)
All Groups, Clubs and Organizations welcome to join and attend. Motorcycles not required. Motorcycles with LARGE flags greatly welcomed.
The escort will end at the Twiford Funeral Home in downtown Elizabeth City where we will set and maintain a flag line during the Patriot Day Celebration.
A ceremony raising the Ground Zero Flag will commence the ceremony and be followed by the Key note speaker for this event, Sergeant Major Gene Overstreet, the 12th Sergeant Major of the USMC. Upon completion of the ceremony, lunch will be furnished by the Twiford family.
