HOTH Mission
7 Days for the Troops
Pearl, Mississippi – 11-01-19

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 7 DAYS FOR THE TROOPS event at the Outlets of Mississippi.
7 Days for the Troops was created and developed by disabled Marine – Disc Jockey Scott Burns, who is devoted and committed to help other disabled Veterans. For nine years Burns has camped out for seven days, 24/7 in shopping malls across America – raising thousands of dollars for disabled Veterans from individuals coming to shop. This year, rising to new heights, Burns is scheduled to camp out at OUTLETS OF MISSISSIPPI, PEARL MS with a goal of raising $20,000 to help PURPLE HEART HOMES: JACKSON RESTORATION HOPE CHAPTER provide more housing solutions for disabled Veterans like Scott.
Burns joined the Marines after graduating from high school in Jackson, MS during the height of the Gulf War. Although he never made it to a combat zone, then Lance Corporal Burns served as a motor transport specialist for four years at New River Air Station, Jacksonville, NC and Okinawa, Japan before injuring his foot during a training exercise which cut his military career short. He later lost his leg to an amputation. Unsure of what to do with his civilian life, Burns used his earlier experience as a disc jockey to open his own DJ business in 2003, which is when he found his inspiration to found 7 Days for the Troops.
About Purple Heart Homes: Purple Heart Homes is a 501 (c)(3) founded by Dale Beatty and John Gallina, two Iraq combat wounded veterans, who remain on a mission to provide housing solutions to service-connected disabled veterans and their families.
Driven by the belief that no veteran should be left behind, Purple Heart Homes, together with the community, is committed to ensuring quality of life solutions for disabled American Veterans from all eras.
