2019 Roll Call of Remembrance

Memorial
2019 Roll Call of Remembrance
Virginia Beach, Virginia – 05-23-19

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Roll Call of Remembrance Memorial Observance Ceremony is an annual event that is held at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia each May. This event is focused on remembering our Nation’s Fallen Heroes who have died while serving on Active Duty. These Service Members are honored and remembered for the way that they lived, in service to our Nation’s Armed Forces, regardless of the period of time or the manner in which they passed away. The event also strives to recognize Gold Star Family Members—including the parents, step-parents, spouses, siblings, step-siblings, sons, daughters, step-children, and those family members gained through adoption—of each of those fallen heroes. Gold Star Family members are invited to have the memory of their fallen hero included by submitting the service member’s name, rank/rate, and branch of service to be incorporated in the roll call ceremony, where their names are read aloud and a bell is tolled in their honor. This year’s event will be followed by a luncheon for Gold Star Family Members and a resource gathering, where resource representatives will be available to provide information about the many programs and services available to all Gold Star Family Members.
