Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders. We have been invited to the 100th Birthday of Staff Sergeant Phillip William Chaperon. Sergeant Chaperon is as feisty now as he was during WWII. Mr Chaperon was a Flexible (Waist) Gunner with the 384th Bombardment Group (Heavy). Part of an elite group, he flew in 21 Combat Missions. He was assigned to the 547th Bombardment Squadron in October 1943 and re-assigned to the 545th Bombardment Squadron February 1944. On April 13th 1944 his Bomber was under a 3 hour attack by German Aircraft. The Bomber crashed near Lindenfeis Germany and Phil was captured and a Prisoner of War for the remainder of the War. POW Camp: Stalag 17B Braunau Gneikendorf near Krems Austria 48-15.
On 5 October 2011, at his home in Portland Oregon Phil became the 33rd Veteran of the 384th Bombardment Group to sign the wing panel. When shot down SSGT Chaperon was part of the Darwin Nelson Crew, 547th Bomb Squadron.
The invitation has been extended by the Oregon Veterans Home (OVH) at The Dalles through Westcare Management and the ODVA with restrictions. Planned is a mini Parade with limited motorized personnel on the campus of OVH in The Dalles. Taking part will be members of the PGR and the Mid Columbia Car Club. Additionally the Mayor and a City Councilman. Please note special instructions below.

Staging Time: 9:00 am

We will stage at the bottom of Veterans Drive. There is a new Church at that corner. Whether we stage in that lot or just below on the main street will be determined by Scouts the morning of the event..
I-84 instructions: The Dalles Bridge exit 87. Head south to Hwy 197 and then left approximately 500 yards and left on to Columbia View Drive. Follow to the foot of Veterans Drive. Veterans Home signs will guide you from the Freeway and to each turn.

10:00 am Parade (limited number determined by RC)

Flags will not be provided
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
