ABOUT THE MISSION:
MAJ Robert G Jackan, Ret., of Appleton, WI, passed away on July 20, 2020 at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee from complications of COVID-19.
Bob was born on June 13, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, to Ignatius and Mary Jane Jackan. He attended St. Lawrence Catholic School in Wisconsin Rapids and graduated from Holy Cross Seminary in La Crosse, WI with a degree in Philosophy. On July 23, 1977 he married the former Therese Hoepfner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fond Du Lac.
In 1968, Bob joined the US Army and he was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer before completing Airborne and Ranger Schools. He served for 20 years, including tours in Vietnam, Thailand and Germany. He retired in 1988 after having attained the rank of Major. Upon retirement from the Army, Bob and his family moved to Appleton, WI. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38.

Service 11:00 a.m. We will not be indoors in proximity to family or visitors. The Ride Captain will present the plaque and dog tags to the family privately. No other members will assist or attend.
ALL members MUST wear a face mask over mouth and nose at all times from the time they dismount or leave their vehicle until they depart unless they are at least 8 feet from the nearest person. Failure to follow this will result in being asked to leave the mission. We ask that the family and friends maintain a safe distance of 8 – 10 feet at all times (therefore we cannot line the immediate entry area or open doors). We may participate in an escort maintaining a safe distance. It is required that each member to make sure they have a mask with them at all times as well as hand sanitizer and possibly gloves (laundered between each mission). Each member must consider the potential consequences without feeling any pressure to attend if you feel it unsafe for you or your family.
