Born in Pittsburgh, PA on 15 Feb 1943, married on 13 June 1964 to Tamara Sue (Kugel) Ernst, widowed on 2 Dec 2019, have 2 married daughters, 13 grand-kids and 5 great grand-kids and 1 great-great grandson. Joined USAF in 1961 and retired in 1981 as a MSGT (E7) Ground Electronics Superintendent. Worked in various Defense Industries after retirement for 23 years as a System Safety Engineer, retiring in 2004.
Prior experience as a Firefighter, Law Enforcement Officer, Paramedic, and Confined Space Rescue Technician. Trained others in these areas. Additionally, was a CPR Instructor Trainer for the American Heart Association, 1st Aid Instructor for the National Safety Council, and First Responder/Basic EMT Instructor for Onondago County, New York.
Am a member of the American Legion (New Mexico Post 34 and District 5 Judge Advocate) and on the building committee for White Sands Habitat for Humanity. Am a member of the Lincoln/Otero County Veterans' Advisory Council and a Deacon in church responsible for building maintenance, safety, and security.
Joined the PGR in 2009 and held positions of Flag Line, Ride Captain, Senior Ride Captain, Assistant State Captain, and State Captain (my current position).
My hobbies include woodworking (furniture design and construction), target shooting, and general handyman work.
