An Extreme Home Makeover For The Cabaniss Family

An Extreme Home Makeover For The Cabaniss Family

Cpl Jeremy (Matt) Cabaniss wants to be with his friends and brothers who are still in Iraq.  You can still see the fire in his eyes and his spirit is intact. He is stateside because he was permanently injured in two separate IED explosions.  The second explosion left him hospitalized for a very long time and forever separated from his brothers in arms who are still in Iraq.  He has been diagnosed with TBI (traumatic brain injury).  He will be medically discharged from the Army when he is stable. His wife Deanna and their two children have been right there by his side and provide 24 hour care.

His home in Panama City Beach, Florida was damaged during the worst hurricane season on record.   The roof is already starting to collapse and the constant water leak has caused black mold to grow throughout the house.  Soldiers Angel’s contacted the Patriot Guard Riders in North Florida and asked them to help in the reconstruction of this home. There were several visits to the house by building professionals and the consensus was that there is no way to adequately fix this home.  The black mold had spread throughout the house and can only be removed by totally stripping all of the walls and ceilings down to bare studs.  The cost of these repairs would greatly exceed the cost of replacing this home.

An application to Extreme Home makeovers is being filled out now and will be submitted soon. We can only hope that they will jump into this project and bring their influence and checkbooks.

Regardless if the EHMO joins us or not, Soldiers Angels and the Patriot Guard Riders in a joint effort have taken on the monumental task of providing a decent home for this family to live in.  What started out as a Roof repair has turned into a national project. Riders from as far as Tennessee and Arkansas are volunteering to help out.

We need your help. We are trying to collect a hundred thousand dollars to pay for this project so that this soldier who has paid a very high personal price can have a safe and healthy place to live and raise their two small children.

If you would like to donate time, materials, or money please contact Koolness@patriotguard.org

Send all monetary donations to:

Soldier’s Angels

Every bit helps.  You can make a difference.  Join us in this effort to make the home of a wounded hero livable again.

This nation can NEVER repay out troops for their personal sacrifice, not can we as a people ever begin to make them whole once again. BUT we can unite for the good of all these men and women and do our best to at least show them their sacrifice was not in vain. I have watched EHMO many times, I see people in need. This family meets all the qaulifications I have seen thus far and way more. To have given what this family has given, this should be the very least we can all do. My check will be in the mail Monday. GOD BLESS YOU JEREMY. GOD BLESS YOU.

Has anyone contacted your local Lowe's? I work for Lowe's here in MN, and we have a program called "Lowe's Heroes." The local stores may be able to provide anything from building materials, volunteers, money, any number of things. I will also try to find a contact name for you tomorrow at work. Thank you, Jeremy. For your service and for your courage.

This is the closest Lowe's to the family. If you like, I will contact them myself. I will also try to go through the corporate office. I'm just a pawn in their game, but it's worth a shot. Let me know if you would like me to persue this avenue. bryanreynolds33@hotmail.com

First of all, let me say that I wish Jeremy and his family a long and happy life in their new home, and They WILL get a new home. Everyone I've met in the Patriot Guard has a warm and generous heart, and I know they will shine like the stars they are when they read about the NEED that exists here. WE, the PGR are over 110,000 strong, and not only can we raise $100,000, ($1 from every member) but we can build a house. Start building men, supplies are on the way, just have faith and believe.
