You may or may not know who S/SGT Keith (Matt) Maupin is. He is the only
POW/MIA and was captured April 09, 2004 in Iraq. The Army officially listed him as POW/MIA, April 19, 2004.

I have gotten to know Keith Sr. (Matt’s Dad) over the past three years. We talk about his son and I realized how many people just do not know about him. Keith is a PGR member and very active in supporting our troops coming home and those that we lay to rest. He is always there to help comfort the grieving families.

I have often thought to myself, it takes a special somebody to set his or her problems aside and notice the problems of others. I can not imagine what is going through one’s mind when knowing these folks at least know where their son or daughter is.

The purpose of my letter and request is that I would like to know if you can post this information on the National Web-Site Home Page so attention can be brought to the fore front regarding S/SGT Keith (Matt) Maupin’s status with the United States Army. It seems to me that the were-a-boughs of SSgt Maupin is getting lost in the political arena and that any and all efforts to find him are going to be lost in the months ahead.

We buried Matt’s Grand-father February 17, 2007, there was and empty chair sitting in front and to the right of his Grand-father’s casket with the POW/MIA colors draped across the top of the chair. This was done to signify Matt’s presents. I even have a shell casing from the twenty-one gun salute which hopefully I will be able to present to Matt some day.
The annual ride for Matt is scheduled for April 14, 2007. Again my reasons for this request are simple. I do not want this family to suffer anymore, they need to know America and the PGR will stand for them in their darkest hours and be there to support them in their quest to keep their son’s name in the public’s eye and the politcal machine.

We want answers as to what is being done and not have another soldier go 20, 30 or 40 years before he or she is found. We as a Country owe it to our Soldier’s and their families to stand behind them not only when they are being deployed, returning home or laying them to rest but just as importantly never leaving them behind .

In closing, I would like to ask every PGR member who can to attend the ride
April 14,2007 and if you can not attend if you could drop a check for what ever your heart can afford to support the Matt Maupin Foundation Scholarship Run.

Make your check or money order payable to: Rolling Thunder Chapter 9 OH.
P.O. Box 605
West Chester, Ohio 45071
Make sure you write in the memo section of your check or money order for Matt Maupin. Just think if every PGR member sent $1.00 this would make one hell of a statement. I am not a member of Rolling Thunder, however I try and help support their efforts and they support us as well.

Please help me get the word out across America.

I will be there riding for Matt and the Maupin family.

I was there for his Grandfather's services and looking at the empty chair it was hard imagine what the famliy feels to not know where their loved is.

Matt needs to be found and brought home.

Micah (Matt's brother, currently serving in the USMC) and I just talked about this last week. He's going to try to take some leave again this year. Last I rode with Micah. We were the second bike in the pack. The only bike ahead of us was Tiny and he was Matt's ride. We had planned for Matt to be there to ride and he would've ridden shotgun on Tiny's bike. Instead, Tiny rode alone with an 8x10 picture of Matt fixed to the windshield. I had plenty of time as I held on to Micah to look at that empty seat in front of us... that empty seat is the empty place in our lives until Matt comes home. I can't even describe how it felt there with Micah riding for his brother. No, we definitely weren't riding for us, we were riding for Matt. This year, I'm planning again for Matt to be there. I will never give up hope on having him return home until he fills that empty seat in front of us and that empty place in our hearts, in our lives, is filled with our hero's hugs.

I will be there for Matt.

I will attend the ride for Matt Maupin.
It was my duty as Northern Kentucky Ride Captain to be in Mckee, Kentucky when Matt's Grandfather, Charlie, was laid to rest.
I am making it my personal challenge to bring as many PGR members from The Bluegrass State to show this family how much we care and support them.

To all PGR members I would like to get some kind of count as to how many members I can expect, I need to touch base with the Local LEo and the Sheriff's Department . I would like to meet at the School one hour before the posted registration time and make a corridor of Flags like never before seen . Plese try and give me some feed back as to numbers attending .

I know Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana will have people there but some kind of number would help with logistics . Any other states coming ????

I am a new member to PGR and I would like to help if I can. I host the United We Roll World tour Show on Stardust Radio every Tuesday 3-5PM Central time live. I would like very much to have someone from Rolling Thunder to come on and talk about this event - and WHY it is being held. We could do this now and again as it gets closer and a wrap-up afterwards. Please post if you are interested in this. Judi

Last years run was COLD, but I think every rider had a warm glow coming from the inside, in addition to the much needed Chili. There are some links to last years Matt Maupin Foundation Run on the Rolling Thunder OH 9 web site:

and while you are beowsing around, Stop by Matt's web page and leave a note in their Guestbook

I'll be there and intend to bring as many of my riding compadres as I can muster. The Maupin family is a shining example of the strength of America and her people. Even with the pain of Matt's absence, they do all they can to support others. If you can make it, be there for this ride. Matt and his family deserve every bit of help they can get.

I have never met Keith Maupin myself, but I have seen him at just about every military funeral I have attended. It impresses me to see how the Maupin family supports those families who have lost their children in battle, while still not knowing the fate of their son. While I no longer have a bike, I am not going to use this as an excuse to not support the Maupin's and I plan on putting my donation in the mail Monday.

They say there is nothing anyone can say to lessen the pain, anxiety, the sadness and anger that you are going through. I lost a son and the only consolation I have is I know where he is and that he is now safe from harms way. My prayers go to your son and to you in this troubled time.

I intend to be there for this ride. For Matt will not be forgotten.
I have never met Matt but he is an American Hero and deserves a Nations gratitude for his service.
I have marked my calender as I hope all PGR have done.

Though I can't make the Ride for Matt, I want Matt's Family, Friends and Fellow Troops to remember there are those of us that think of Matt EVERYDAY, as well.
Since Matt's disappearance, I have worn a POW/MIA bracelet with his name on it. I see it every time I shave, brush my teeth, and everything else in between.
Though I am not a Vet, I have respect and honor for those that do, and did, serve this fine Country I call home.
I have had a couple of medical procedures that required hospitalizations, and I WILL NOT allow this POW/MIA bracelet to be removed from me, UNTIL WE ALL KNOW ABOUT SGT. MAUPIN.

With Respect and Honor,
Dan J. Robertson
Big Lake, Mn.
