GROWING PAINS

One, we reached the 50,000 member mark…that’s a huge milestone that we should all be very proud of. This means more members to honor our fallen heroes, more members to assist other organizations through Help On The Homefront, and more members to help spread the word about the PGR and our mission. It also means the diversity or our organization has become greater just through the sheer numbers. As this diversity broadens, there will be more and more differing opinions and viewpoints expressed throughout the website. This can be a good thing…50,000 heads are always better than one.

However, as the PGR continues to grow and become more recognizable across the country, there will be those who would like to see us fall, for whatever reason. Some detractors will function out of jealousy and other will have more sinister motives. We have already seen people posing as members in an effort to covertly undermine our resolve for our mission by attempting to spread dissention throughout the rank and file membership. Let’s all just be aware of this possibility when some of these outlandish posts and emails raise their ugly heads. We know what we’re about, that will never change. The PGR has simply become a larger version of what it started out as…an organization dedicated to honoring those who serve our great nation.

With all that’s been going on, it’s been stressful for all of us. Know that your leaders, on every level, are always working for the betterment of the PGR. Yes, we’re all going to make mistakes, but I can assure you they are mistakes made with pure intentions. To the detractors…we’re not going anywhere. The PGR is stronger than ever and getting stronger every day. We will be here to fulfill our mission for years to come.

Here’s what I ask of every member:

1. Keep the mission. There are to many times we can get distracted by and put entirely too much effort into trivial issues that have nothing to do with the mission

2. Temper your words with respect. Remember that families of the fallen, the media, and our detractors read the PGR forums.

3. Help each other. If you see another member getting “off base” respond to their posts or emails in a respectful way while attempting to get them back on track.

4. Support PGR Leadership. Before you start criticizing you RC, SC or National Leaders, keep in mind that these folks have very difficult jobs with a great deal of responsibility. They spend literally hundreds of hours a month without pay to keep the PGR running as smoothly as possible. When a decision needs to be made, the one litmus test it must pass is “Is it the right thing to do?” If the answer is yes, we’ll do it and figure out how to clean up the mess later.

Thanks for listening,

Jeff,
Thank you for your vision and leadership. Your comments show respect for the differeing points of view while maintaining the difficult balance of leading. I may not always agree with National, but then again I don't have all the information National has when decissions are made.

You will always have my respect and PGR will always have my support. When I consider how few hateful and acussing posts I see in comparison to the size of our organization, I place it in context. Sometimes it is hard to do, but I appreciate that National makes such an effort.

Thanks

jeff,
you and the leadership of the pgr has been and still stands to be outstanding, you and the patriot guard members have restored my faith in fellow americans and i am very proud to be part of such an honorable oragnization. i can remember when we had less than a thousand members and now with over 50,000 my commitment and support of our mission has not changed, it has just given me the oppurtunity to meet more like minded people.

thank you to all the members who make this organization what it is.

Jeff, the "True" PGR are behind you. What we do is the right thing to do, and it is very much appreciated, as I stated in my Vietnam Memorial Ride Post. People appreciate and thank us for the strong statement that we respectfully make, so don't let the nay-sayers get you down. I am here for the long haul, as so many of my Brothers and Sisters are, also. The ones that truly "Get It' will be around for a long time, at least until you are all called upon for my final mission.

Well said Jeff.
I have my headaches here in Ky. as well. You all know i will back whatever decisions are made. I will do whatever i can to make a mission successful. We are 1 orginization and i help in any way possible. I awoke one day and read an article about this group who showed up at Military funerals and said thats what i need to do. Im the SC now for Ky. I work alot on here as well as a 40 hour + work week and babysit my Granddaughter 3 nights a week. Its hard to do what needs to be done. But i get it done no matter what.
You all opened my eyes to the USA. I supported my country but did not really support it. Till i read the article. I have been on 20+ missions . I dont wear mission pins. Im not proud that someone passed away so i could wear a pin to show i went. I just do what i should have been doing for my country a long time ago. I will try to make any mission i can to help out or to just show my respects to the family.
If i can take any workload away from anyone i am willing to do it to get it done. I have helped 3 different states set up missions right on the computer here.
Thanks for listening.Greg !!!!!!

That is the true question and the answer is YES because that is who we are and that is what we do. Keep up the outstanding work that you and the rest of the organization is doing.

As I checked back evrey so often to see when we were going to cross 50,000, I was thinking about the power and strength in this organization. It's no longer 50,000 people standing with flags at funerals, it's also Help on the Homefront, VA rides, Welcome Home Rides, CARE packages to our heros, Special Missions, individual relationships with those who keep us safe. It has been, in so many instances, a reawakening of the flag waving, sign holding, turn-out-the-whole-town-for-our-heroes American Spirit. People are watching. Let's keep showing them the American spirit that made us what we are.

Thank you to ALL at the national level for establishing and maintaining an organization of this nature.
Like Topsy, it "just growed".
People always have opinions, but this is not a blogging site, nor an application for Oprah or Maury, to be part of a public spectacle.
In its absolute unique status as an eclectic amalgamation of individuals, we still come together for one purpose, to "Ride with Respect".
This is not and never can be about US.
It's about the fallen patriots who ensure our liberties.
It's about the families and communities.
I didn't join to "have a say" in the day to day operations of the organization.
I joined because you awakened a slumbering spirit of patriotism that will not be quenched!
THANK YOU!
Please continue to do what you are doing, keeping it all on track and inspiring others to get involved.

God bless you and go before you.

Jeff-We are now so large, I cannot see how we continue to operate and grow without some kind of paid management. IMHO,if that means a small annual dues payment, so be it-Your leadership and that of the other national officers has been exemplary, in every respect-but now I feel it is time to start paying one or more of you, or someone you hire to take care of day to day administration, while you keep the reins on policy.

I am new to PGR and rode my first mission Saturday to honor a young Marine in South Carolina. The PGR were awesome. Although I was brand new they welcomed me with open armys and everyone was friendly, helpful and all about the mission. I felt immediately like I was among family.

The ride Captains were so good. I marveled at their effectives in staging this. I can only conclude that we lost Vietnam because they were not in charge.

I am proud to be a part of this organization.

Thanks Jeff and very well written. Your 4 requests -

1. Keep the Mission
2. Temper Your Words With Respect
3. Help Each other
4. Support Leadership

are clear, precise and to the point. If members follow the guidelines you set forth above and if they remember that the following groups read all of our Forums on a daily basis:

1. The Press!
2. The Pentagon!
3. All Branches of the Military!
4. LEO!
5. Members of the Clergy!

and the most important of all -

6. The families of the Fallen Comrades!!!!!

Then I think we will grow larger and larger and have fewer and fewer problems in the future.

Thanks to you and Waldo for all that you have done in the past and all that WE will do in the future.

Jeff and all the rest of ya'll,

I will always remember the words of my Grand Dad. "Always do the right thing. It won't always be popular or easy, but it is still the Right Thing to do."

I joined the PGR because it was a Nation Wide of effort of doing the things that I was already doing on a local scale. Thank You for having the vision to Go Big, when I couldn't see beyond my own community. My commitment to your vision is growing with each passing day. I support all that you and the rest of our National Leaders are doing. Well said, sir. This is the reason I joined the PGR. The mission is simple and clear. Respect for the fallen and their family. Anything else is outside of that mission. We must travel light, perform our duty with precision and leave without fanfare.

Along with the other regular readers of this website are readers who we protect against. It sends shivers of joy up their spinelss bodies when they see us quarrel. A house divided shall surely fall. We stand together or we'll hang alone.

Keep up the great leadership, Jeff. YOU are the reason we succeed. We need to be the reason you can rest easy in this effort.

Carry on!

Jeff,
it is about the mission. Let us all remember that, and also, that when this many people are members, there is always going to bet that 10% or hopefully less that cause problems.
Those of us that are pure of heart, can rise above the disention. May God bless our troops, wherever they may be deployed.
I hope that soon the war will be over, and our missions will be respecting the soldiers coming home to their families.

I pray every day for this to come true.

It is not only a great feeling to be able to show our support for the families of our fallen heros but also to see the support of all the PGR riders from every State that show up at the missions. I might also add I have never heard any rider make any comments other than very positive and total commitment to the mission.
It's more like our commitment to the military during the mid 60's when our Nation was experiencing the terrible race problems. Our color was green and we were all the same, working for the same mission and covering each others back.

They're the ones with their own selfish attitudes and agendas and outspoken political views, all which seems to happen at times when they are not needed nor condoned. As I stated previously, not everyone is cutout to be a member and as is such with the purpose of the military's Basic Training regimen, the weeding out process will continue in the PGR organization as well. I hate why we come together (except for the Welcome Home, Parade, and Support Missions etc.)
but... I am Proud that we come together.
It is about the Respect of the fallen and Support of the families and frinds of the fallen. If 50,000+ of us remember that and focus on that only.... we shall sustain as long as we are needed.
Thank you National, Local and All who work many more hours than just the times of the mission. Because the Mission is not a mission without the work you all do.
Also, you all do a fine job... nobody should have anything other to say than that, if they do, they should first consider... can they do it better? and if not, do it in Privat.
As far as wearing pins... I do this because I engrave each pin with the Mission as a Memorial, not proud that it happend.

Thank you All... for allowing me to "Ride with Respect" with the Pariot Guard Riders. (Where the Mission is the only concern)

Jeff,
If you don't do something about the "Theatrics" of PGR, then we will NOT be around long. Families will STOP inviting us. Tell the local leadership to KEEP IT SIMPLE, and stop theatrical presentations of flags and bikes. It is NOT a biker rally, it IS a funeral.

We are invited guests, and as soon as PGR gets more press than the soldier, we are done as a organization.

1 Stop Theatrics
2 Keep it Simple
3 Keep it Reverent

Disagreements are a normal part of life..it's how those disagreements that are handled that show your true character. Geographics and work load have only allowed me to make one mission. I still carry the memory of that, Brafrod Pa. mission. The professionalism and respectful manner presented by everyone associated with the PGR, to the grieving Maholic family, was noticed---- by the entire city of Bradford. I receive positive comments, and thanks you's - everytime my PGR T-Shirt, or vest patch is noticed.
This organization is special, stay the course.

Remember - Ride Safe and breath the air that tastes like freedom!! While giving thanks to all our military hero's............nytoad.

There are many thousands and thousands who will respectfully carry out this vision till every last soldier comes home.

I have said in posts and will say again, I do not believe that anyone, anywhere really realize's what this organization is going to mean to this country. I do honestly believe that this is only a beginning to a true reawakining of the AMERICAN spirit. The PGR will impact this great country far greater than anyone could ever imagin, mark my words people. I am so very proud to be a member , with even a tiny part to play in this grand adventure which is the AMERICAN spirit in bloom. God bless us . one and all. Ed Finch greatfull PGR member.

Since all of you sheep think Jeff is an "alleged" Patriot, I'll share this email about him with you:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

For the March Greensburg/Dodge City funeral mission, Jeff Brown drove up here and trailered his bike. (Kurt Mayer had arranged for CNN to be there for Twister.)

After the day ended, members of the KS Patriot Guard and about 3 or 4 other local men stopped in Greensburg at a cafe to eat before heading back to Wichita.

As they were eating, a Patriot Guard noticed JB sitting at a table in the corner with another guy.

The guy departed, so the Patriot Guard member went over and invited Twister to join them at their table.

The Patriot Guard member told Jeff Brown that they had a tradition that whenever they met someone new, each member of the group introduced himself and gave his military background.

The Patriot Guard member started and they went around the table.

Each of those guys is a veteran, and all are very proud of serving our country.

When it came to Twister, he said, "I'm Jeff Brown ... I knew my number was up and I was going to be drafted, so I joined the Air Force, and I hated every minute I served."

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Yeah -- looks like he's a fine one to be leading the PGR, since he HATED HIS MILITARY SERVICE!

Hey Anonymouse, (above)
Big woop.... do you think or think that anyone else really thinks that every serviceman/woman loves what they do? all the time?
Ha, you better wake-up... thats not the real world.
If Jeff really said that, Kudos to him for being honest.
Now run along... grown folk are talking.

Bryan.

I'm about the newest newby to PGR there could be, I guess. I have to say that if someone writes a comment and refuses to accept the responsibility for his/her words, it only tells me that, 1. They are rabblerousing and should be ignored, or 2. They may be lying which is why they won't sign their name. It is a cowardly act to criticize and hide behind anonimity. So, ladies and gentlemen, consider the source and give it the attention it deserves (NONE)!

LOL!!!

Hey Anonymous,

A few errors in your post...

One, I road rather than trailered, not that it matters.

There was no "arrangement" with CNN...I said hello to the producer and went about the business of paying my respects, like any other PGR member.

The contingent from Kansas Patriot Guard didn't "notice me" sitting with another guy, I set up the meeting at that cafe in an attempt to iron out the problems we were having.

However, your recollection of my statement regarding my military service is pretty accurate though, even if somewhat exagerated on my part (I probably didn't actually hate every single minute).

I do find it incredible that you would question my patriotism based on that statement....

If you really examine your complaint, which is easier, to do your duty when you love it, or to do your duty even if you hate it?

Even though I can't say I loved every minute of the four years I spent in the serive, I am a very proud veteran.

Might I suggest your energies could be put to better use than trying to "stiir the pot"....especially when you don't have a stick to stir with.

With all due respect,
Jeff

The truth of the matter is that people are people...no one is perfect and certainly no one is in a place to judge another...there are some that feel they can and/or need to...
The bottom line...IMHO...is that when we are there for our soldiers and their family that we BE there...any other issues can be dealt with on the sidelines...When you joined the PGR you weren't asked to submit to a psychological profile or background check...nor were your peers...they..WE were all asked to do NOTHING more than stand tall and silent with respect at the missions...
Nothing more nothing less...
I KNOW there is disrespect among us...ehhh...sad...but not worth walking out on our reason for BEING PGR...
I will ignore the ugliness amongst those that live for that type of nonsense and remain focused on the mission at hand...
NOT perfect...NOT wanting to be...but have NOTHING but respect for our military...

Nice response Twister!

I can't claim to have hated (or loved) every minute I spent in the Air Force. In fact there were some really really great times, just as there were times that I would like to forget. If I had loved every minute, I am sure I would have served 20+ years instead of the 6+ years and I would now be a retiree instead of a veteran. But one thing is for sure, love it or hate it, I'm damn proud of it!!!!

The Patriot Guard is providing a great service to our country,at a time that it is needed the most. I can not claim to be at all in favor of the war or the possibly crooked politics that got us there and are keeping us there, but I am so proud of the job our service members are doing. They are truly making the best of a bad situation and deserve our utmost respect. Godspeed to all of the brave men & women doing as they are ordered, doing what they believe in, and most importantly, doing it well.....

God Bless our soldiers!
God Bless the USA!
God Bless the Patriot Guard!

As a retired USAF TSgt all i can say is that whether you loved or hated it you served doe not really matter. What matters is that you served honorably and faithfully. Life gives us good and bad times and what we do from that experience is what matters the most. And as long as you believe what you are doing is right then carry on.

So lets ruck up and carry on

Though we gather for the worst of reasons, we ride for the best of causes!!!

To serve others without payment or self promoting is the most honorable thing a man can do. I would have never believed myself being able to do that!! The PGR has given me a unique perception of life that did not exist before. Thank you all, every single one of you that makes this organization a success.

What is success? It is hard to put in words in this context, but it is defined in the gratitude of those we serve, the families of the honored fallen, and the wounded who gain some hope from our participation.

"No Mission Too Difficult- No Sacrifice Too Great- Duty First" that is the motto of the 1st Infantry Division and one that I lived as a soldier. Now as a member of PRG, I must acknowledge that Some Missions are Very Difficult and Some Do Pay the Ultimate Sacrifice" and my new "Duty First" is to honor their memory and provide support to their family when ever called upon to assist. The leadership of this organization acknowledges that responsibility in every thing they pursue and they do it in a most commendable manner. For those that don't embrace our true mission, I say, "leave PGRand take your attitude with you". I don't need you in my world. Deputy 36 Tim

As for the anonymous coward sheeple who tried, and failed to slander Jeff Brown, give it up, you suck. First you lie about Jeff and then you claim to be Zippy when clearly you aren't. Why don't you slither back to your Topeka compound. Take off loser, it must really suck to be you.

A great big THANKS to our leaders, we have grown a great deal in a short time. No one should criticize a volunteer leader until they have been one. It honors me to ride with a group that has out grown and left in the dust the protesters of our patriots. Honoring those Patriots is our objective, everything else is secondary. As long as our leader keep that in the lead (and they have) I see no need to complain! Again a big THANKS to our LEADERS.

Just to let you know what stand up kind of person Mr. Anonymous was, he signed on using that name, and immediately, after not getting the attention he sought, removed his name from our membership......That should tell you a little about his character.

I'm leaving this up, and I'm certainley thrilled to see that our members have grown, to the point that instead of taking the bait, which was thrown out, they have deicided to turn back to our mission statement, as our cornerstone.....

Respects to you all,

He!!Mystry person! I can beat Jeff "Twister's" Statement.... At my USN Retirement Ceremony... I cloased my farewell speech with: "20 years active duty; 2 years as a weekend warrior; 15 years of sea duty; 17 deployments; 5 combat/hostile duty tours, been around the world 3 times and talked to everyone at least twice..... I had a million dollars worth of fun.... and wouldn't give a penny to do any of it over again...... Thank you.... Thank ya very much....." and of course to the guys in the military, the running joke was.... What does SEX and the ____________ (put your branch of service in here.... in my case it was the Navy) have in Common???? Answer: The closer you get to your DISCHARGE, the BETTER IT FEELS! :)
By the mystry person's standards, does that make me a loser too? I Think not... pretty realistic attitude about military service IMHO.

Keep the faith alll.......

Anywhere there is good to be done or being done, you will have those that will always try to steel your thunder, detract from your good work, and/or ruin your reputation because they cannot even come close to your level of accomplishments in their life. After all is said and done - the good will be remembered and the bumps along the way will not even be remembered. Don't loosesight of the mission and purpose of the PGR.

No only because I had the privelidge of being there but of hearing how much the family appreciated us being there. After all my main concern is showing respect to my comrades and they way I can do that is to respect and help their families.
