Max W. Waltrip, 89, of Decatur, died Friday October 10, 2008 in Aspen Ridge Care Centre. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII in the European theater, with the 5th Armored Division, receiving many honors including the Bronze Star.

'No Greater Love is this that a man is willing to lay down his life for another.' Only two men were willing to sacrifice their lives for us-Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. Neither of which can ever fully be repaid.
Thank you for your Service and my Freedoms. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. I am grateful to live in a country made up of volunteers like you. Your choice to protect our Nation and put your self on the line can never be repaid.
