The San Antonio Patriot Guard Riders have been asked by HOTH (Help On The Homefront) to show our honor and respect to veterans on Saturday, 8 November 2008 (*Note: this is not Veterans Day which is the 11th*) by leading an Honor Ride from the Koyote Ranch near Medina, Texas, to the National Cemetery in Kerrville ( http://tinyurl.com/KerrvilleNationalCemetery ). This event is part of the Three Sisters Rally ( www.threesistersrally.net ) being held to honor all veterans. Breakfast will be provided to Patriot Guard Riders at the Koyote Ranch ( http://tinyurl.com/KoyoteRanch ) staging area at 0700 hrs.
Ceremony Plans: Patriot Guard Riders will lead the ride behind an LEO escort departing the Koyote Ranch at 0900 hrs and riding to the cemetery where we have been asked to form a flag line. There will be a military honor guard, 21 gun salute, and military flyover as part of the ceremony. There are expectations of approximately 100 to 150 non-PGR bikes that will follow us in the procession.
Staging and Ride Plans: Meet at the southwest part (closest to I-10 West) of the parking lot of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World ( http://tinyurl.com/BassProShopSATX ) in the RIM shopping Center at La Cantera.
Staging Time: 0515 hrs! Yep, it is early, especially for a Saturday, but breakfast is at 0700 hrs and it will be dark on the ride there and we will have to watch for deer, etc. on the road.
Mission Briefing: 0520 hrs!
KSU: 0530 hrs!
Big Flag Bikes, Flag Truck, and Riders: Yep, early, but it is not a work day and it is a ride to honor all veterans including our own PGR members. We would like to have as many Big Flag Bikes as possible and as many PGRs as possible. Also, I would like one of our three Flag Truck drivers to volunteer for this mission and notify me as soon as possible so that I may coordinate with you.
RSVP: Due to breakfast being provided, and also the need to pass on detailed information to the LEO escorts, I would appreciate it if you would RSVP to let me know that you are planning on participating. HOTH and I would appreciate a good turn out for this event. Please RSVP me at john.jbwelch@gmail.com or give me a call on my cell phone at 830-285-0436.
Thank you for your support. God Bless Our Troops.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom. |

MISSION COMPLETED HOTH – Mission of Honor to Commemorate Veterans Day, Koyote Ranch/Kerrville, TX, 8 NOV 08. Twenty PGR bikes and a flag truck departed San Antonio at 0530 hrs and rode to Koyote Ranch near Medina to participate in a ceremony to honor our Veterans. The bike procession departed Koyote Ranch at approximately 0915 and rode to the National Cemetery in Kerrville. PGRs led the procession of 109 bikes, of which it was estimated that approximately half were PGR bikes. At the National Cemetery, a Flag Line with 50 flags was formed by PGRs. A 21-Gun Salute was provided by a Marine Detachment from San Antonio. A wreath was placed at the Memorial by the son (active duty USN) of the Three Sisters Rally organizer, Sarah Bass. Additionally there were three fly-overs by four WWII vintage warplanes, with the last being the Missing Man Formation. A debriefing was held onsite immediately following the ceremony. In addition to the PGRs from San Antonio, Central Texas, and other areas, we were fortunate to have George Raglin,Texas State Captain, Charles Rathgeber, Deputy State Captain (San Antonio); and J.D. Alberthal, San Antonio Senior Ride Captain (Communications) in participation. A special thanks goes to Shannon Lynde for providing the flag truck and water. Also, thanks goes to all the PGRs (and their passengers) who were able to participate and especially those who got up at 0:dark thirty on Saturday morning and rode to Koyote through temperatures in the 30s. Thanks goes to Sarah Bass, Event Organizer and Joe Bruzzone, Sponsor Representative of the Three Sisters Rally; and Asha Elkins, Koyote Ranch Representative. It was their hard work that ensured the Ceremony was a success. Also thank you for the breakfast (cooked by Sarah's father) provided free to all Veterans and PGRs. Thanks goes to the Kerrville and Medina LEO that participated and helped make for a safer ride. The most import "Thank You" goes to all Veterans!!! God Bless You and our present Troops. Be careful and ride safely, John B. Welch, Hill Country Senior Ride Captain
