SHORT NOTICE - Corporal Charlie L. Franklin, 83, WWII USMC Vet, Jacksonville, FL, 10 Oct 08

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to Stand in Honor of Corporal Charles Lee Franklin, 83, US Marine Corps Veteran. Cpl Franklin saw service at Iwo Jima and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, The WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

When we arrived at the Holmes Glover Solomon Funeral with PFC Setzler, Cpl Franklin's family asked if we could stand for their Hero. So we will be standing for a Hero from the Greatest Generation and for a HERO from the Global War On Terrorism.

Visitation: Friday, 10 Oct 08, 5:00 to 8:00pm

To the family of USMC Cpl Charlie Franklin, I send my heartfelt sympathy in your loss. You have lost a loved one and America has lost a hero of the Greatest Generation. May God give you comfort, consolation and healing as you travel this dark road.

My sincere condolences to the family of Cpl. Charlie Franklin. As we got to the visitation for Pfc. Setzler this evening we found that Cpl. Franklin's visitation had been moved to another location. Some of us relocated to stand in honor for him as well.
Another member of the "Greatest Generation" has stood his final duty. Rest in peace Cpl. Franklin, in the knowledge that you are a true American HERO.
