This is the final Itinerary for the Patriot Guard Mission to honor COL Michael R. Stahlman, USMC, 45, Chevy Chase, MD, who gave all on October 5, 2008. It is a go, all contacts have been made. A memorial service will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia 22203, at 1100 hrs, Thursday, October 30, 2008, with interment at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) following at approximately 1300 hrs.
Your ride captain for this mission is Kevin Rock, (410) 867-8882.
The current weather forecast for Arlington, Virginia, on Thursday, October 30th is sunny with morning lows possible to 36 degrees increasing to a high of 56 degrees in the afternoon. Dress accordingly. Horses if you can (with safe, sturdy and secure 3 X 5 flag mounts if possible). Cages are always welcome. Please bring hand-held 3 X 5 flags for the services at Murphy's Funeral Home. Flags will not be needed once we arrive at ANC for the second portion of this mission.
Staging at Murphy's Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia 22203, 1000 hrs with a briefing at 1015 hrs.
Remember that our mission is to respect and honor this fallen marine and his family. Stand tall and proud as we salute this hero and his family for their great sacrifice!!!

Services will be at Murphy's Funeral on 30 Oct at 1100 hrs with Interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery at 1300 hrs.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Col. Michael R. Stahlman, 45, of Chevy Chase, Md., died Oct. 5 from injuries sustained in a July 31 non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
The incident is currently under investigation.

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.
Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.
Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.
