The plane for the HERO's will be landing at 1240, PGR and escort will meet then escort to the Elmen center either with bikes if the weather lets us or cages if required.

The familys will be at the Ellmen center to meet the troops and for the Cermony atarting at 1200 hours, we have requested the Legion and VFW honor guard support this mission with us at the Elmen center.

The  Welcome home Ceremony for Det 1, B Bat, 147th Field Artillery is planned for 23 Oct
08, 1530hrs. at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls.

We plan to have the Sioux Falls PD help with the escort as well.

Ride Captain: Jim Lentch

We will all meet at J & L Harley: 1130 hours on south side, with kick stands up to ride the ecsort and to the Elmen center(2 places). for the flag line and Welcome Home Ceremony.

As of the today, the  Welcome home Ceremony for Det 1, B Bat, 147th Field Artillery is planned for 23 Oct
08, 1530hrs. As you all know this could change, but we are using this day for planning purposes. We will know for sure when the main body of the group arrives at Camp Shelby.

We plan to have the Sioux Falls PD help with the escort as well.

We will all meet at J & L Harley: 1400 hours on south side, with kick stands up at 1430 to ride the short distance to the airport. for the flag line and then escort to the Welcome Home Ceremony.

(Tentative: Oct 20,  2008) 
 

 
Major Aaron C. Schultz, SDARNG, has requested  the Patriot Guard Riders,Rolling Thunder,  The American Legion  Riders,   Christian Riders  and all Other Military Supported Ride  Groups and people to welcome Det 1, Battery B, 147th Field Artillery of the  South Dakota National Guard.     The Patriot Guard was there to send the 147th FA off to Iraq last  October.   We presented a Patriot  Guard Riders flag to the unit commander,  Major Kory Knight.    Major Knight later informed us that they had the PGR flag proudly flying on the base  flag pole beneath Old Glory.   Now we can be there to welcome the unit  home safely.  I'm happy to report that the unit had no casualties during  their deployment.   The return date is still tentative but is expected to be on or  about October 20, 2008.  This date is subject to change, so members are  encouraged  to check back to this posting for updates.  
 
Staging:  is planned for  J & L  Harley-Davidson, which is located at 2601 W 60th St N, Sioux Falls.  This  is located off Exit 82 from I-29, and go less than 1/2 mile east.  Times  will be announced when the arrival time is known. 

 The Ride Captains for this mission are Asst State Captain Jim Lentsch and Ride Captain Gary Saxhaug.

We are looking at 20 Oct 08 for B Batteries homecoming.  If it is not that day,
it will be that week sometime.  The Soldiers will arrive at Business Aviation,
travel via bus to the Elmen Center.

It looks like the welcome home has been changed to the 23rd of Oct. However, we are still waiting for final
approval and times. SD PGR will continue to keep you posted.

What an awesome Welcome Home!  The escort down Minnesota Ave was something else, seeing traffic stopped as far as the eye could see....I can only imagine what it was like from their perspective.  Here's a link to some pictures I took:
