FRIDAYS TIME LINE:
7:00AM- stage at I-75 truck scale. Just past Wade Green Road.
7:45 – 8:00AM Join in escort of Captain Conner for the final trip to Cartersville.
8:30 – 9:00AM arrive at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr. SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Form and stand a flag line for one hour.
5:00 – 6:15PM form and stand a flag line at Summer Hill Family Center for the Memorial Service of Capt Conner. 129 Aubrey Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
SATURDAYS TIME LINE
10:00am Begin staging in the Kroger parking lot at the corner of East Main Street and Highway 41, Cartersville, Georgia, 30120
11:00 – 11:30AM conduct the mission briefing, conduct mentor meetings, get everyone to bikes for the procession to the church, Trinity United Methodist, 814 West Ave., Cartersville, Georgia 30120
11:30 – 12:00 procession to the church
12:00 – 1:00 form and stand flag line at the church
1:00 – 1:10 Vietnam Veterans enter the church, honor Capt. Conner, depart the church. Flag line stands down
1:30 – 2:00 The members of the procession that are moving to the cemetery are escorted by LEO to the Cemetery, Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120
3:00PM The funeral service is completed, Vietnam Veterans escort Captain Conner and his family to the cemetery. The members that arrived ahead of Captain Conner and family will have a flag line set for the arrival.
3:00 – 3:30 Cemetery Honors are completed, flag line stands down.

On October 27, 1967 Captain Lorenza Conner was piloting a F-4 Phantom II in a flight of four aircraft over Tuyen Quang Province, North Vietnam. His plane was struck by anti-aircraft fire that resulted In his plane being shot down. Captain Conner was not able to eject from his aircraft, and died as a result of the plane crash. Captain Conner's co-pilot was able to eject safely, was captured and remained as a POW .
Between 1992 and 2003, several joint US / Socialist Republic of Vietnam teams, led by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), investigated this incident, interviewed witnesses and surveyed the crash site. At the crash site, teams found aircrew-related equipment and aircraft wreckage consistent with an F-4 Phantom II.
In 2007, another joint team excavated the site and recovered human remains. Through dental comparisons, Captain Conner was positively identified.
On October 24, 2008, almost 42 years after his death, Captain Conner will be brought home to his family and community in Cartersville, Georgia.
The Georgia Patriot Guard Riders have been requested by the family of Captain Conner to provide escorts and flag lines for his interment. Many of the details are still to be worked out. Please continue to watch this post for updates.
Plans as of this date are:
Final plans for Captain Conner, Friday October 24,2008.
There will be 6 bikes escorting Captain Conner from Hartsfield Airport. The six riders have either “ramp access” (Delta employee) of have been granted special approval by the Hartsfield Security staff to accompany the hearse to the plane. Capt. Conners flight arrives at Hartsfield at 6:00AM.
We will have a stage area for anyone who wants to join in on the escort to Cartersville along I-75. Just north of Wade Green road on I-75 is an old truck weigh station. It is parallel to I-75. Friday morning it will be blocked off for the use by motorcycles and cages that are meeting Capt. Conner. Starting at 7:00AM there will be a Bartow sheriff officer at the entrance to this area with flashing lights. If you are joining the escort, this is where we will stage. Pull into this area and follow the instructions of JayDub, assigned Ride Captain.
The hearse with Capt. Conner and the six bike escort will pull into this area, slow down for everyone there to join behind the hearse and the riders in escort. The escort will not stop, but slow down enough for everyone to join in. The hearse will be escorted by 3 LEO. The last LEO will drop back far enough so that all the bikes can get in front of him, safely.
We will then ride to Cartersville and the funeral home. Once at the funeral home, we will stand a flag line for one hour.
We have been requested by the family to stand a flag line on Friday evening at the memorial service for Capt. Conner. The service will be conducted at the Summer Hill Family Center, 129 Aubrey Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The service will begin at 6:00PM. Please be at the Family Center by 5:00PM to form and stand this flag line. We will have flags available at the Family Center.

Pilot Missing in Action From The Vietnam War is Identified
The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing in action from the Vietnam War, have been identified and will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
He is Capt. Lorenza Conner, U.S. Air Force, of Cartersville, Ga. He will be buried Oct. 25 in Cartersville.
On Oct. 27, 1967, Conner and his copilot flew an F-4D Phantom II fighter jet in a flight of four on a combat air patrol mission over North Vietnam where the plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire over Tuyen Quang Province, North Vietnam. The copilot ejected safely, was captured and later released by Vietnamese forces, but Conner could not eject from the aircraft before it crashed.
In 1992, Vietnamese citizens told U.S. officials that they had information concerning the remains of missing U.S. servicemen and they turned over Conner's identification tag.
Between 1992 and 2003, several joint U.S./Socialist Republic of Vietnam (S.R.V.) teams, led by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), investigated this incident, interviewed witnesses and surveyed the crash site.
