I apologize for the numerous changes but the Waterbury PD has asked us to once again move our staging time up.  They will be blocking the road off and diverting traffic so they want to get us in there a little early.  So…being the flexible bunch we are…

FINAL (I hope) STAGING TIMES

0815hrs Colonial Plaza

0830hrs Final mission brief

0845hrs KSU

Regards,

I just got off the phone with the Waterbury Police and we will have LEO escort from the stage to the cemetery.

STAGING TIMES CHANGED

0830hrs stage at Colonial Plaza

0845 Final mission brief

0900hrs KSU

The family will be departing for the cemetery @ 0930hrs.

A presence has been announced and is expected at 0915hrs at the cemetery.

LEO has plans to stage this presence well north of the cemetery and I anticipate they will have little to no impact on the ceremony.

In fact, we will ensure that.

Christian was a polite young man.  He and my son were the best of friends!  My son is devastated, but understands that Cotner wanted to serve his country.  Rest in peace, Chris. He leaves his parents and an older brother.  Please pray for the family.

Corporal Christian Scott Cotner is someone that I consider one of my closest friends.  His brother is my best friend, and having even lived in Christian's home for a while, I have come to have the utmost respect for Christian.

Nothing anyone ever would say to him would EVER get him down.  He set a goal to become a U.S. Marine, and he stepped up to the plate and did whatever he needed to do to reach this goal of his.  His dedication to his role as a Marine was unmovable and unbreakable, even though his ROTC in High School, and though I am older than him, I ended up looking up to him as a role model.  He met his goal, and made his family, his friends, and his country proud.

Christian is someone I look to as even a little brother.  I love him dearly.  I thank you for your condolences and kind words.  I will make sure to direct the family here to read for themselves.

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.
