With the permission of PGR leadership, I would like to offer the words of my son---who was involved in the firefight in which Lance Cpl Gluff died---for the family:

"The Marine that died, Big James, one of my best friends. He was 20 years old, married, had a son, and was in the Marines for 3 weeks longer then me. One of the best guys I could have ever wished to serve with, and I gotta say that it was an honor to be fighting by his side to the end. This unit, all his friends and family, and myself will never forget him, there is no doubt in my mind that he saved some lives and I'm sure he's up there guarding the gates of heaven. As the great Big James always used to say "I PLAY FOR KEEPS!!!". lol. It kinda hit me hard last night that he's gone, I miss the shit outta him already, but I know he'll be looking out for us and preventing us from losing anymore Marines. To his Wife, Son, and the rest of his Family, I'm sorry he's gone, I know this must be 10 times harder on you than it is me, but for what it's worth, James went down fighting, he's a hero."

My family and I offer our sincere condolences to LCPL Gluff's family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers, as well as those of the Marines who served with him, are with you.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Lance Cpl. James M. Gluff.  I appreciate all of his contributions to our country and may there be a special place for him in heaven. He gave his 'all' so young.   He has joined the ranks of heroes and I love him for that.  He is America's son, and I am an American.  That makes him partly my loss too. I will never forget.
