26 Sep 2007 1:08 PM Alert

Updated 30 Sept 07 2029 S Sturgis

Funeral services for SSgt Zachary Tomczak will be held on October 3 at 11am at the Huron Arena.

They are having viewing at the Arena beginning at 10 a.m.  Our staging area is at the WalMart on

Hwy 37 at the south end of Huron.  WalMarts address is:  2791 Dakota Avenue South., Huron, SD.

The previous staging time was 0930, departing at 10 am.  However, due to the viewing being held

beginning at 10am, we need to depart the staging area at 0930.

Internment will be held at St Martins Cemetery, which is located about 3-4 miles east of Huron. We

depart Huron on 21st St SE, go east until we cross the James River, and the cemetery will be on

the right (south) side of the road.  If we have a lot of riders, most of our bikers will depart to the

cemetery during the funeral service to set up the flag line prior to the arrival of the motorcade.  The

remaining bikes will travel with the motorcade to the cemetery.

We will have some flags there for those who do not have, but members are requested to bring flags

if they can for the flag lines at the arena and cemetery.

In the interest of safety, those of you who can travel on Tuesday and travel in the daylight are

encouraged to do so.

The wife and parents of SSgt Tomczak have requested the Patriot Guard to attend the services

for this American Hero.  Services are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 3, at 11 a.m.

We will stage at the WalMart at the south end of Huron.

The WalMart address is: 2791 Dakota Avenue South  It is located on Hwy 37 approaching Huron

from the south.  There is no gas located there, but I understand the Coburns grocery store across

the street has food and gas.  I recommend that members re-fuel their rides prior to the mission.

Staging at the WalMart is at 9:30 A.M.  We will depart from there by 10 am to proceed to the site

of the services.  That location is unknown at this time.  We will also provide escort from the services

to the cemetary.  Members are asked to please bring their own flags as we do not currently expect

to have flags available.

Members with questions or information, please contact me at sirlancelotsd@patriotguard.org.  On

Tuesday night or Wednesday, I can be reached on my cellphone at 605-381-3725.  Some of this

information is subject to change, so please keep an eye on this thread for possible changes.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sgt Zachary Tomczak. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Zachary.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

A Soldier's Prayer
(author unknown)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
