TUESDAY 26 JUNE 2007

STAGING AT THE AUGUSTA CIVIC CENTER 0930 (9:00AM)

KICKSTANDS UP 1000 (10:00AM)

We will travel to Farmington, then onto Salem.  We will arrive at our final destination an hour prior to the arrival of the group escorting Sgt. Parker from Skowhegan.  This will give us time to take our positions along the entrance with our flags.

If anyone wishes to form a group from their area and meet the group from Augusta in Farmington, please post your intentions on this thread.  We will converge on the Gifford's ice cream shop rear parkinglot on route 27.  Our departure from that location will be no later than 1200 (12:00pm).  Please also keep be informed about your plans.  I would hate to leave Farmington with the main group to later find we had missed another group of riders by five minutes.

Greetings Fellow Patriot Guard Riders, CONFIRMED MISSION SGT. Richard K. Parker, killed in action June 13, 2007.

Mission #1: The family has requested an escort from the airport to the funeral home. Details of the flight number, arrival time and location have not been made available to us yet. Quite possibly we will receive those details later today, or tomorrow. As soon as they become available, I will send out another all-member email as well as posting the details on the forum under the "Confirmed Missions" thread. The Augusta airport has been requested as the desired arrival location according to the CAO. The escort will be from the arrival location to the Adams Funeral Home in Farmington, Maine. Needless to say the escort from the airport will be a last-minute endeavor. But, we've had these before and we've always handled them well. Keep your eyes on the "Confirmed Mission" thread at: http://www.patriotguard.org/Forums/tabid/61/postid/553843/view/topic/Default.aspx

Mission #2: The family has also requested an escort from the funeral home, to the memorial service. The details for this segment of the mission will also be coming soon. The escort will be from the Adams Funeral Home in Farmington, Maine to the Mt. Abrams High School in Strong, Maine, where a celebration of life will take place. Following the service, there will be a reception held at the Phillip's Grade School organized by the Prescott-Fairbanks American Legion Post 64.

I apologize for not having the times, dates and other details for you at this time. That information will be coming soon. Until then, lets take this opportunity to prepare ourselves and our equipment for the mission which lay ahead of us. Thank you for all that you do.

Cruizer...Standing by with pegs down.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom.

To the Family and Friends of Sgt Richard Parker,

My heartfelt condolences go out to you all.  Words can not convey the sorrow that is felt by all when one of America’s patriots has laid down their life so that others may enjoy the everyday freedoms that we take for granted.   I for one will never forget the sacrifice made by one who strongly believed in, exemplified and committed their life to the very ideals that forged this nation and have kept it strong all these years.  May God comfort you with his strength in this difficult time and may he grant eternal peace to our Nation’s patriot.

Respectfully,

A Soldier's Prayer
(author unknown)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
