Final Itinerary for Spc. Eddie D. Tamez, 21, Galveston, TX Saturday May 5th 12:00

This is the final itinerary for the services for Spc. Eddie D. Tamez, who gave all for you and me.  This mission is a GO all contacts have been made.  We had a great escort today, lets make the services as special. Let's help provide a fitting send off for this American Hero.

This will be posted on the PGR web site on the mission tread with maps so you may want to view them.

This is very important, 2 miles of I-45 WILL BE CLOSED THIS SATURDAY from Nasa Road 1 (FM 528) down to FM 518 (League City exit).  Make plans to avoid this area on Saturday so you will not be delayed.  Members on the west side of I-45 may want to take 288 down to HWY 6 to get to Galveston. Those on the east side of I-45 may want to take 146 down or detour the construction on Hwy 3 or 270.  See the map below for ideas.  Leave early!

map

Jerry will have our 200+ flags at this mission, Gary will bring our private label PGR water that was graciously donated by Mike Ray, Sandy and Chuck (PGR members) of Carbonics Inc.

We will set up our flag line at the church before the services.  Once the services have started we will move our flags to the cemetery (Calvary Catholic Cemetery)  .  Flag bikes (bikes with large flags) will remain at the church and will be in the procession from the church to the cemetery.  A forward element of non flag bikes will be lead by PGR Ride Captain Mike to set up our flag line before the procession arrives at the cemetery.   We should have police escorts the whole day is not we may need Road Guards for this group of bike.  Flag Bike Riders in the procession will join the flag line after the procession arrives the cemetery.

Please join us as we Stand Tall & Silent honoring Spc. Eddie D. Tamez, his family and community. Bring a friend with you who has never attended a PGR mission, they will thank you afterwards.

Service Date:  Saturday May 5th 12:00

Staging Location:
Surplus Warehouse parking lot at 5915 Broadway, Galveston, TX.
Next to the Enterprise Rent A Car , just over the bridge on the right side.

How to get there (from Captain Mike)
Only one way on to the Island coming from the North and that's I-45. As you come off the causeway bridge make sure you are in the right lane.

There are two ways to turn into Surplus Warehouse:

1. - Take Exit at 61st Street. Stay in Center lane as you do not want to turn onto 61st.  At the light go through 61st and stay on the feeder and you will see Enterprise Car Rental on the right and next to it is Surplus Warehouse.

2. - After the Exit for 61st street, I-45 will rise slightly and then drop down as it crosses over 61st street, Make sure you are in the right lane and be prepared to cross over traffic coming from the feeder road and turn into the Surplus Warehouse parking lot.

Which ever way you choose, remember it's Cinco De Mayo and Historic Homes Tour weekend and a lot is happening on the Island so drivers are distracted and not looking out for motorcycles.

Staging Time:
09:30 - 10:45
Riders Meeting & prayer 10:40
KSU 10:50

We will a police escort to the church.

We will have a good amount of RC's at this mission helpimg out.

Weather:
A low of 75 with a High: 82°F RealFeel®: 94° breeze, NO RAIN
Dress accordingly

This will be a long day, bring a snack, we will have water.

For newbies:
What do I wear?:  Our only requirement is that you wear them, leather is normally the flavor of the day.

What to bring?:    Water and a snack, we will have some down time to rest after the service starts.  We plan on a forward element moving to the cemetery with the flags once the service starts.   This will be a long day.

What do I do?:    Follow our lead, you will do fine, just bring a heart full of respect for this fallen hero.

Iron horses if you have them, cages are always welcomed.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.  Thomas Paine

Thank you, Spc. Eddie D. Tamez for your service to this Nation. It is because of Patriots such as you that I, my family, and the rest of this great Nation are able to lead the lives we do. It is the soldier that gives us freedom, not the politicians. Only two people ever died for our freedoms. One was Jesus Christ and the other was the American Soldier. The least I can do is pay homage and respect to this Hero and his family.
To the family of this American Hero: We as a Nation grieve with you in the loss of one of our Nation’s best. His adherence to “Duty to God and Country” will not be forgotten. Death is a time to rejoice in the life someone had and the lives they touched on this earth. Life is but a blink of an eye. May the Great Architect take this Hero and his family into his council, protect and heal them.

You don't have to love war, but you do have to love the Warrior!
