Joshua just returned from Iraq with the group of 110th Engineers that we escorted from Ft. Leonard Wood last month.  He died from injuries suffered in a car accident.  I've been in contact with his Battalion Commander and should hear from the family today.  Here is the newspaper article:

http://www.semissourian.com/story/1181672.html

==============================

When a mans heart is full of deceit it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same men who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes the Dark Warrior, the purveyor of good, with a voice of silence and a mission of justice. - Steve "Sting" Borden

URGENT Short Notice - Spc. 4th Class Josh McHugh, 22, died Saturday from injuries he received in a motor vehicle accident.  He had just returned home from Iraq last month with the 110th Engineers.  We escorted Josh and his buddies home from Ft. Leonard Wood.  His funeral will be in Jackson MO at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home on Main Street in Jackson Wednesday at 10:00 AM.  Spc. McHugh will be cremated.  There will be no funeral procession.  They will conduct funeral services with full military honors at Cracraft-Miller.  They will have pall bearers bring the flag draped casket out of the Funeral Home, pull and present the flag, then load the casket into the hearse.  That will end the funeral.  We will provide a flag line only.  The funeral director will give us space in front of the funeral home to park our motorcycles and we will conduct a flag line at the entrance.

We will stage at the Cape Girardeau VFW at 8:00 AM and drive together to the Funeral Home at 8:30 AM.  The forcast is for inclement weather so we will adjust accordingly depending on the number of bikes present.

There will be a visitation Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 8:00 PM.  We are welcome to hold a flag line at that time as well.  Let me know through this post or email if you can be at the visitation and we will plan accordingly.

Here is a map to Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson:

Map

And here are the directions from the VFW to the Funeral Home:

Start:

1049 N Kingshighway St
Cape Girardeau, MO 63701-3502, US

End:

Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home: 573-243-2541
708 W Main St, Jackson, MO 63755, US

I threw this together rather quickly.  Please contact me with questions.  I'll be sending out emails later today.

My condolences to the McHugh family. This young soldier served us well and the majority of us never had a chance to thank him. May God bless those who grieve his loss and give them peace.

Be careful Randy.  You might want to consider driving your cage.  I'm afraid you're going to encounter a winter mix, at least on the way back.  You handed these boys off to us and helped us bring them home.  Stay safe so we can keep on doing it.

To the family of Spc. McHugh...
What words could possibly help during a time like this…
When we know not what we should pray for as we ought, the Spirit maketh intercessions for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26
So let not your heart be troubled, for your loved one has gone to the place which Jesus has prepared.
Stand down soldier, your mission here is complete.

Completed Mission - Job well done.  A heart felt thank you for the hardy souls that joined us today in the rain and cold.  Of course, we know that is nothing compared with what Spc. McHugh risked for us.   I'll never get use to having family, friends and military come up to us and thank us for being there for the fallen.  It seems such a small token of our appreciation for what they do for us.  They are telling us that it matters - and for that we can all be proud.

Thanks everyone.

We and our motorcycle chapter were so happy to ride escort when the 110th returned to Cape Girardeau. It was our first Welcome Home mission - and after a number of not so happy missions, we needed to see the joy on everyone's faces that day! Thursday, we had the sad privilege of riding and standing in honor of Josh McHugh, who only a month earlier had returned with the 110th and was part of the joyful reunion we participated in. Our hearts ache with you in the loss of your fine son, family member and friend to many. His mission here is complete - God bless you all for allowing us to share the time with you. We thank you for his proud service and his return to you victorious and we grieve with you in your loss. Roger & Marlene Riley Jackson MO
