-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is with a sad and very heavy heart that we must post that Retired Master Gunnery Sgt.Troy Mitchell, 44, of Jackson, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 29th, 2009.  He retired from the United States Marine with 22 years of service:  combat veteran who served in several conflicts, including Bosnia and Iraq. He was recognized for his service with a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and other citations.  He served in infantry and in the Force Reconnaissance units.

More than a Marine, he is the father of seven boys (ages 5 - 27), and a loving wife, Kelly. Today, she is surrounded by 6 of them.  One of them is in Iraq on his way home to be with his family.  He deployed not too long ago, and the Patriot Guard was part of his units escort to Ft. Campbell, it was a very rainy day.....The family has requested the Patriot Guard to stand in Honor and Support of their Hero, Our Hero......This is a confirmed mission...

A memorial fund has been set up at Patriot Equity Credit Union in Jackson. There are two locations: downtown and Director’s Row, for the family of this Hero.

Details are still pending, and his son is enroute home from the sandbox.......

Thank you for your service MSgt Mitchell. May you rest in peace.

“Some people’s lives can truly make a difference however long or short their lives on earth. They give the gifts of kindness and of caring. They sow the seeds of friendship and self-worth. Some people’s lives are beautiful examples of putting others first, and when they are gone, the lives of those they touched are so much richer, and the love they shared lives on and on.”

My family and I wish to send our condolences to the family and friends of Gunnery Master Sergeant Troy Mitchell. You are a HERO to our country for standing for our freedom so that we may have the liberties that we enjoy everyday. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. You will NEVER be forgotten.

____________________________________________________________

For this country, this Warrior has stood the watch.

While some of us were in our beds at night, this Warrior stood the watch.

While some of us were in school learning our trade, this Warrior stood the watch.

Yes, even before some of us were born into this world ... this Warrior stood the watch.

In those years when the storm clouds of war were seen brewing on the horizon of history this Warrior stood the watch.

Many times he would cast an eye home and see his family standing there ... needing his guidance and help ... needing that hand to hold during those hard times ... but he still stood the watch.

He stood the watch for years, He stood the watch so that we, our families, and our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety each and every night knowing that a Warrior stood the watch.

Today we are here to say “Friend, the watch stands relieved. Relieved by those you have led, guided, and trained. You stand relieved. We have the watch.”

GOD BLESS!

Karon and I would like to offer our most sincere condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Master Gunnery Sgt. Troy Mitchell USMC.

Please rest assured that Troy has now reported to his new duty station and, as the last verse of the Marine Corps Hymn says, is now "Guarding The Streets of Heaven".

“If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven’s scenes,
they will find the streets are guarded by United States
Marines”.

Rest well my brother Marine.

Troy was not only a fellow Marine, but my friend and Senior Vice Commandant of the Marine League Detachment here in Jackson. He was shot and killed during, what is thought to be, an attempted robbery while working on a customers car at 10:30 AM Weds morning. He was an organ donor an 7 organs were donated by him. This speaks volumns of the kind of person Troy was.

Funeral plans are incomplete, pending the return from the autopsy in Nashville by the state crime lab. This is an ongoing crimal investigation.

At this time, we're looking at Tues/Weds Oct 3 or 4.

This will be a full military honors funeral

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Troy Mitchell ,Thanks for being one of our greatest heroes. God Bless. And God Bless, The fellow soldiers that stands for us everyday.Thank you for your dedicated service and sacrifice to defend this great nation of ours.

We salute you , My Friend

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Troy Mitchell, USMC, Retired Combat Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Troy.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
