Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Elroy Jones, USNAF, WWII Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is
one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Elroy.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

My wife Robin and I would like to add our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Petty Officer Third Class Elroy Jones, and profound gratitude to Mr. Jones for his service to the United States of America. At the same time we bow our heads to bid this heroic American 'farewell', we will all stand a little taller, and draw inspiration from his conviction and dedication to duty, honor and country. I thank the Jones family for inviting the PGR to participate in the service and tribute to our brother Elroy, and will consider it a privilege to stand in honor of this brave American. To the family of MR Jones: Many places I ahve been. Many shipmates I have met. I may even have met this sailor of the greatest generation ever. Who knows for sure if I've sat with him at the AMVETS, American Legion or VFW on my trips home?
I am saddened by this loss. Sad that I am in TN and unable to stand the flag line for a vet from my home town. It was these guys before me, their stories and their pride in having "been there, done that", that caused me to join and then stay.
MR jones- your watch is over, you stand relieved. I'll assume the post and take the con. Make note in the official log. Fairwinds, following seas my shipmate, we will not forget. |
