This is the final itenerary for the CPT Houghton mission.

Stage 1)
Thursday, July 9th---Escort of CPT Houghton from Charlotte-Douglas Airport to Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC
A.  Staging for members in the Asheville area will be @ Parkway Harley Davidson, 20 Patton Cove Rd, Swannanoa, NC at 1630hrs.  KSU @ 1700 sharp!
We will make a quick stop at Love's Truckstop at HWY 221 and I-40 to pick up additional members from the Marion area.  We will proceed to Waffle House on Mulberry Church Rd near the Charlotte Airport.

B.  Staging for the escort back to Asheville will be at Waffle House, 3310 Mulberry Church, Charlotte, NC @ 1900hrs.  There is a gas station right across the street.  The flight is scheduled to land at 8pm.  When the plane lands, we will proceed to the Delta Cargo terminal where a USAF detail will transfer Cpt Houghton to us.  We will then proceed back to Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, via I-85, Hwy 321, I-40.  We should be back in Asheville around 2300.  We will be running at highway speeds so if you are going to run with flags, make sure they are secure and can handle speeds up to 60mph.

Stage 2)
Friday, July 10th---Visitation will be at Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburn Road, Asheville, NC from 6pm until finished.
Staging---Shoney's at exit 44 on I-40, 425 Smoky Park Hwy, Enka, NC @ 1530pm.  KSU @ 1600 to go to the church.  I will need 6-8 bikes with big flags to go ffrom Shoney's to the funeral home for the escort to the church.  I may also need a detachment to escort the family to the church.  We will ALL meet at Shoney's and divide as needed in order to meet all our requests.  All 64 flags will be at the church prior to Friday so the flag like can be established.  After visitation is over on Friday night, Captian Houghton will remain at the church overnight until the service on Saturday.  I am getting a list together of PGR members who would like to stand guard at the church overnight.  Please call or email me if you would like to participate in the all-night vigil.

Stage 3)
Saturday, July 11th---Funeral service at Trinity Baptist Church, 2pm
Staging---Shoney's at exit 44 on I-40, 425 Smoky Park Hwy, Enka, NC @ 1200 with KSU @ 1230.  Most of us will go to the chirch from there, and a small detachment will go escort the family from their home to the church.  Flagline established at 1300.  After the service, Military Honors will be rendered in hte parking lot, and a fly-over by the F-16 Squadron from Shaw AFB will honor their fellow pilot, Cpt Houghton.

Any question, please email me at wayneparris911@netzero.com or call at 828-507-5558.

Thanks for your support,
Wayne "Tater" Parris
Ride Captain, PGR

CPT Houghton will be arriving at Charlotte-Douglas Airport at 2000 hrs (8pm) on Thursday, July 9th.  We will stage at the Waffle House at I-85 and Billy Graham Parkway at 1900hrs.  Due to hwy speeds, we will not be flying the big flags upon departure from Charlotte.  We will make a stop around the Buncombe County line and fly the flags the rest of the way with LEO escort.

Staging on July 11th will be at Shoney's at exit 44 on I-40 from 11:30 to 12:00.  KSU at noon to go to Trinity Baptist Church and establish the flagline for the memorial service.  The service will be at 2pm, so be sure to eat lunch!

The Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church,  216 Shelburne Rd, Asheville, NC at 2pm on July 11th.  Following the service, everyone will go to the parking lot where Military Honors will be rendered, and a possible fly-over by the F-16 Squadron from Shaw AFB.  We will provide a flag line for the service, then escort the hearse back to the funeral home.  We also may be asked to provide an escort to the church so stand by for that.

More details will be released as they become available.

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Capt George-Bryan Houghton. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, George.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
