My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Spc. Hermanson. He was a hero in the true sense of the word. As the granddaughter of a North Dakota National Guardsman who went off to World War II (CO "I" 164th-, which is now the 142nd), this hits close to my heart even though I am not in physically in North Dakota anymore. I will be there in spirt. Here is a link to the Fargo Forum article about him.

The ND state captain has contacted ND members by e-mail.  He let us know that a PGR member who knows the family will be in contact with them regarding their desires.

According to a local news story, the funeral home representative in Fargo says the funeral will most likely be held late next week.

We will be extremely priveledged to make this mission ride. Obviously as a PGR member, but this one is very personal for us. My son is currently serving in Iraq. He was Mike's fire team partner and roommate. Erik, who is also a PGR member, has high praise for the loyal, dedicated, and fine soldier and man Mike was.  I have been in contact with Mike's parents regarding our mission arrangements. They are fine people. Rest assured, they are very much looking forward to our presence at the funeral. They are also quite aware of the confirmed presence of the WBC. I am hoping we can have a very strong showing at Mike's funeral. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike's family, friends, and the soldiers in the 164, Co. A, serving from LSA Anaconda. The Trailblazers perform a critical mission in our efforts in Iraq. Erik has assured me they will go forward continuing to perform their duties while remembering Mike with honor every day. This unit has performed their duties since deployment at a very high rate of proficiency. Believe me, they are representing the people and state of ND, as well as the country, in a very honorable fashion.

THANKS DAD...

I just received the email regarding the presence of these sick people, as a PGR member, and friend and fellow soldier of Hermy, I am hoping for so many PGR members to be there, there will be no room for these sick people to even get close to the loved ones of my friend. This is the first KIA mission for North Dakota PGR, and I'm sure you guys have your bikes warmed up! Thank you for all you do, the 28 of us in his platoon would give anything to be there with you guys........

To SPC Erik T. Lindborg,

I would like to begin by extending my most sincere thank you to you and your fellow platoon members. Thank you for your patriotism and dedication to your country and ALL her citizens. Thank you for protecting me and my family. We sleep better at night because of real, American heros like you.

Secondly, I want to offer my most sincere condolences to you at the loss of your fellow soldier, your friend, your "brother".

Rest assured SPC Hermanson will receive the honor and respect he deserves. I have had the unfortunate honor of completeing three missions here in Wisconsin in the past two weeks, and each time I am overwhelmed by the respect, dignity and honor that my fellow PGR members bring to each occasion.

I am going to make every attempt to attend the service for Michael, and it would be my honor and privilege to carry two flags, my own and one to reprsent you and/or your platoon. I am sure there will be well more than 28 PGR's members who will gladly do the same, so please know that while you may not be physically present, your platoon will be well represented and it will be an honor to "stand beside you" to pay respects.

God Bless You and keep you safe my friend.
