I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of PFC Richard Sullivan in this time of grief. Thank you for your dedicated service in protecting our country. As a veteran of World War II and surviving Iwo Jima, you were a true hero/patriot. I live in New Mexico and I'm not able to make the ride for you, but you will be in my heart. Everyone in this country should honor you for protecting our nation’s freedom from those who would cause terror against us. We take so much for granted in our day-to-day lives, but we must never forget the thousands of soldiers and airman who are deployed in foreign countries; fighting to protect our freedom. In memory of Sgt. Robert Kassin, Sgt. Leroy Segura and Captain Evans; along with the many men and women deployed from Cannon AFB, you are all heroes and thank you for protecting our country.

PFC Richard Sullivan, better known as Sully to his friends. I spent many hours listening to his stories of fighting at Iwo Jima and his life in the Marine Corp.... a member of "the Greatest Generation". Sully will be greatly missed by his presence at the "club". Sully reached out and helped hundreds of men and woman in recovery. He truly was a hero on the battlefield and to those he touched here at home. I am going to miss his ever so present red St. Louis baseball cap which he always wore. Dick was a few months short of celebrating 50 years as a friend of Bill W., a remarkable achievement. Just as he charge up the sands of Iwo Jima he also charge the beaches of recovery. Pfc Sullivan, rest in Gods arms....your mission is complete!!!!! You are now united with your comrads in arms who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. You did it with Honor and courage. Dick......you are my HERO......thank you friend.

To the family and multitude of friends of Dick Sullivan, my deepest condolences. Sully will be truly missed. His was one of the first faces I saw, when I started in my recovery. His very visible Cardinals hat and ever present smile, were like a homing beacon. A hero? Absolutely!! In more ways than one. You have done your family and your brothers in arms proud. Stand down now, Dick. Your watch is over. Rest now with God, and know that your legacy lives on. Never forgotten. You will truly missed.
