WWII Veteran James C. Lewis, Ssgt, USMC

He was a Marine Ssgt. in the Corps air wing as a waist gunner in the bomber group, VMB613.

The funeral service and visitation is on Saturday, 12/16/06, at St. Edwards Catholic church in Longville, MN. The Reverend Father Roland Antus officiating.

Family and visitors will arrive at 10:00.  The service begins at 11:00; aprox end time will be 12 noon.

I've been informed that the church ladies will provide coffee and cookies for the riders, as well as a place to warm up. At the conclusion of the service, there will be a luncheon in the church basement. You have been specifically requested by the family, to join them at the luncheon if you are so inclined.

Staging area will be at the church located at 4905 State Highway 84, Longville, MN. 

Briefing will start at 9:30, assembly of flag line at 9:45.

Please come out to honor this WWII vet and the father of a fellow PGR member.

My thanks and condolences. I will not be there to honor this Veteran of a great generation, but my heart will be with the family on Saturday.

Mr. Lewis,

Thank you for your willingness to defend the United States of America and her freedoms and interests. Your untimely death brings much sorrow and sadness to the hearts and lives of your family, friends, military brothers and sisters, each and every member of the Patriot Guard Riders, and all who truly appreciate their freedom. We are proud of your service and dedication in that which you believed in and fought for. Your mission is complete. You are truly an American hero and the world in which we live is a safer place because of your commitment to freedom. We will now proudly stand for you with honor, dignity, and respect. We pray that you will now rest peacefully in the arms of God. May He provide peace, comfort, and understanding to each life you touched.

To Jim Deadrick, Reagan, and all of the brothers and sisters, (several of whom I knew), who were there for my father, you have my heartfelt thanks. My family and my mothers friends all commented on how wonderful it was that you would do this for him. I said to them, this is what we do, and explained why, and to a person, were in awe. You all did yourselves proud, and made me prouder than ever to be a member.
   I can never thank you enough, for how great you made my mother feel. It was a very short notice mission, but as always, you were there. Thanks again.
