SHORT NOTICE: Sgt Richard F. ‘Rick’ Gunn Jr., of Rochester, MN – 15 Nov. 06



Rick Gunn Jr. is a Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm Veteran.  We have been requested to attend his funeral services this Wednesday, November 15, 2006.

 

Craig Ugland will be the Ride Captain for this mission.  We will provide a flag line as guests arrive for visitation and funeral services at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church (RELC) in Rochester . We will then escort the family from the church to Oakwood East Cemetery for the burial ceremony.  We will provide another flag line at the cemetery. Weather pending, we will provide a bike escort of approx 7 miles from the church to the cemetery.

 

Wednesday Funeral Staging will be as follows:

 

9:00 am            Stage at the Northwest Plaza at 55th St NW in Rochester. Meet near the Kwik Trip in front of the former Econo Foods.

 

9:20 am            Pre-Ride Briefing.

 

9:30 am            Kickstands Up – Travel 55th St. East then South on 18th Ave. to RELC @ 4520 19th Ave NW. (1-1/2 miles)

 

9:40 am            Arrive at the Church. Parking TBD and shared at the Pre-Ride Briefing. Upon arrival, we will form a Flag Line at the entrance of the church for arriving family and guests.

 

10:00 am            Visitation begins

 

11:00 am            Funeral begins. We will take a break at this time and prepare to escort to the cemetery.  (Approx 45 minutes)

 

11:50 am +/-            Depart for the Cemetery. We will travel 37th St / East Circle Drive to Viola Rd. (7 miles)

 

12:00 pm            Arrive at Oak Wood East Cemetery @ Viola Rd and 36th Ave NE, park as directed.  At the site, we will provide a flag line for the family.

 

12:15 pm            Internment begins. This should take approximately 15 minutes. Upon the families departure, we will be dismissed.

We will be traveling at posted speed limits riding in standard staggered formation. If this is beyond your riding skills or comfort level, please follow along behind the group on your own, cage it, or pass on this escort.

 

Be flexible as things change, work with it. And if you have a question, ask a ride captain.

 

Be sure to bring plenty of water, something to eat, and appropriate riding gear for the weather forecast.

I will be attending to honor this hero.
Fog with cold temps predicted for morning, I most likely will be taking a truck if foggy. If there are others in the Grand Meadow area that prefer to take a cage on this mission I have room for 3.
I will check this thread this evening or contact turg@hmtel.com if interested in a ride and to coordinate time.
