We need Riders!

Senator Marty Golden of the New York State Senate is having a SUPPORT THE TROOPS RALLY and has invited the PGR.

I am asking all the PGR who can attend to please help us make a good showing.

It will be held on Sunday, June 11th, 2006

Time is 1:00pm at the laceName>JohnlaceName> laceName>PaullaceName> laceName>JoneslaceName> laceType>ParklaceType> in Brooklyn

4th Ave and 101st street

I will be staging at laceName>CeaseslaceName> laceType>BaylaceType> off the Belt Parkway (Bay Parkway exit)

At 10:45 and leaving at 11:30

Anyone wanting to come please drop me a line, I need to get in touch with the Senator’s office, he is setting up the final staging area and notifying the local police for us.

Scott,
As we discussed on the phone last night--I will put out a NJ notification and lead a contingent for this event. I see it as a great PR op for the Patriot Guard and also as a great way to show our continued support for our troops and heroes serving our country. We will ride in and meet at our usual staging area off the Belt. See ya on Sunday.

Scott, I'm going to try to attend. I'll likely be coming from my girlfriend's house in Suffolk County, so I'll see if I can meet up with L'il Jon again.

I believe this rally should not be a "PGR" event as it goes against the mission statement and showing up at a Republican's senator's political rally might send the wrong message. I probably have some enemies now but we should stay away from non-funeral events. If members want to go they should, but they should not go representing PGR. thank you.

I have read the postings and I agree that we should do anything to support our Troops. Therefore I retract the above statement. Thank you all for your input.

I'm not in NY but I figure if a PGR state captain made this announcement he's cleared the mission with the "chain of command".

I guess it's a fine line, with regard to the PRG  mission statement:
"Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities."

While this isn't a funeral or memorial, but rather a "Support Our Troops Rally", one could argue that supporting our troops in general does in fact show our respect for our fallen heroes.  I suppose it's open to interpretation, but I don't have a problem with it.  I respect those who feel otherwise - you have to follow your own concience.   Supporting the families of our fallen heros is the top priority as I see it, but I don't think it would be improper for the PGR to have an official presence at this rally.  But that's not my decision to make, and I'll defer to good judgement of the Captains in this matter.

Dennis, I don't think respectfully expressing your feelings on such a gray area should be cause for making enemies.  I trust others will feel likewise.

Ok, time for my 2 cents. When this event was being considered, Scott gave me a call and we discussed the PGR attending. Scott did his job and he did it right--he contacted National and was given the "go ahead" with the feelings from them that it was the right thing to do. I felt and still feel that the event is to show support for our troops and it is for that reason that I agreed and sent out a notification for my state's riders to attend. I don't feel that this is a political event or for that matter even a "support the war event". I am attending for one purpose only, to show support to our troops, to show that I stand by them and would stand beside them again if I could. And in particular, I would stand in front of LCpl Ed Connelly currently in Fallujah---Do I like this war? No! Do I want my son home? Yes!! Do I support our troops and my son for what they are doing for our country?? You bet your ass I do and I and my family will be there standing tall on Sunday!!!!!
