Patriot Guard Riders Team Up to Honor Fallen Heroes and Support Families at 66th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

STURGIS, S.D. (May 18, 2006) -- The Patriot Guard Riders today announced a partnership with the Buffalo Chip Campground and the Healing Field Flag Memorial Foundation to honor America’s fallen heroes during the 2006 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Jeff Brown, PGR’s Executive Director, says “I am absolutely excited about working with both the Buffalo Chip and the Healing Field Foundation. The opportunity to partner with such esteemed organizations as these will be invaluable in assisting the PGR in reaching out to help and honor those men and women, their families and communities, who have given so much in defense of our nation’s freedoms.”

Events that will be conducted during this year’s rally, slated for August 7-13, include a Healing Field Memorial for our fallen Heroes of the Global War on Terror, a remembrance ride to Mount Rushmore, a remembrance ride to Black Hills National Cemetery, and a salute to veterans and active duty military personnel night at the Buffalo Chip.

The wonderful folks at the Greeley, CO VFW Post 2121 are raffling off a brand new 2006 Harley-Davidson Softail provided by Greeley Harley-Davidson Honda Yamaha with the proceeds going to the Patriot Guard Riders. They are doing this in conjunction with their annual poker run that will benefit us, Rocky Mountain Military Moms, and sending real care packages to the troops. There will only be 600 tickets sold for this bike and the VFW has 200 spoken for. Contact them quickly as the remaining 400 tickets will go fast at $40. This will be the first fundraiser for the PGR Fallen Warrior Scholarship fund that will provide scholarships to the families that we have ridden for.

Waldo will be on national TV again. I hope that Kurt is ready to undo all of the damage I cause. FoxNews Heartland with John Kasich will air live at 5/6/06 8pm et with a couple of repeats over the weekend.

PGR to Lead Indy 500 Parade

As Acting Indiana State Captain, (Richard Wilbur is on vacation), we would like you to know about this. The Governor of Indiana specifically asked us to escort him on his bike in this parade. This parade will have approx. 300,000 spectators and will be viewed by more than 20 million people in the U.S. alone. We've been assured that when the Gov. goes by that we will be announced and talked about and the cameras will be on us for several minutes. We see this as a HUGE opportunity to spread the word and inform the public as to who we are and what we do.

Help Operation Forever Free serve our wounded troops!!

It has come to our attention that a very worthwhile cause is struggling to secure funds for a large event that they sponsor. Operation Forever Free is an organization that helps wounded soldiers withstand financial hardships. 100% of all funds go directly to soldiers needs. This organization needs $ 20,000.00 by Friday May 12, 2006 or the event may not make. This event is predicted to raise nearly $ 250,000.00 for wounded troops. The event was brought to our attention by Vicky Field who herself has a severely injured son from Operation Iraqi Freedom and fights for the welfare of all these wounded soldiers. She was named “Texas State Representative to the Severely Wounded under The Department of Defense” due to her efforts on behalf of wounded soldiers.

We believe that the PGR may be able to help in this endeavor. If you find it in your heart, could you look at this through the following link and make a donation directly to the www.wwfh.us website, if you feel it worthy of your support. There is a commitment from the US military to transport @100 wounded troops to this event, and we as the PGR have been invited to attend and set up a booth if it makes. Possibly even a parade of bikes!! If the event falls through, all proceeds will be given directly to the wounded soldiers in need as financial aid. One way or the other, the wounded troops win!!!
