This is a Confirmed ANC Mission!

SFC Gregory A. Rodriguez died Sept. 2 of wounds suffered in Ana Kalay, Afghanistan, when his mounted patrol came under small arms fire. He was assigned to the K-9 unit of the 527th Military Police Company, 709th Military Police Battalion, 18th MP Brigade, Ansbach, Germany.

Greg is to be laid to his final rest on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) on 15 September, 2008 at approximately 1500 hours, preceded by a viewing that same day from 1200-1400 hours at Murphy's Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va.

Quoting his wife Laura, from her invite to PGR:

       "Greg loved motorcyles. He has had a Yamaha R1 and currently has a Yamaha R6.
        He also loved to watch the shows on Spike t.v. where they build choppers.

        I'm not quite sure exactly what your group provides . . .  but Y'all can decide how
        much you want to do. I do want to make sure Greg has a beautiful, final farewell."

PGR will be there, standing tall, silent and proud for this American Hero - with an Honor Flag Line during the viewing, a mounted escort from the funeral home to ANC, and an Honor Line at graveside.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of SFC Gregory A. Rodriguez. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your loved one was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Gregory.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.
