LCpl Toves I am so sorry you had to pay the ultimate price in defense of this fine country. Few of us actually pick the path a country takes but many of us defend that path when called upon. You answered the call and proved how you felt about this land. Thank you for your service. I know your family is hurting but this is OUR loss too as you had many productive things to do before you should have passed. Stand down, soldier. Good job but your work here is done . . .

There are no words that seem appropriate or can offer comfort at a time such as this. This brave, brave man who was a part of your lives was taken too soon. But, the sacrifice he made, to this great country and the people of this nation in preserving our freedom is honored and never forgotten. He and his family will be in our prayers.

I Did Not Die

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Thank you for my freedom LCpl Toves. May you rest in peace.

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.
