This is a Confirmed ANC Mission!

On October 8, 1963 a UH-34D Choctaw helicopter that was on a search-and-rescue mission over Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, came under intense enemy ground fire and crashed. There were no survivors.

Crew members included:

BRUCE C FERRELL, LTJG, USN
MANUEL M R DENTON, HM3, USN
WILLIAM T HARRIS, CAPT, USMC
LARRY D JAMESON, SGT, USMC
DANIEL K LESSIG, 1STLT, USMC
LUTHER E RITCHEY, LCPL, USMC

Over the next several days remains of four crewmen were recovered.  In 2000 and 2001 and 2002 additional remains were recovered, some were identified as belonging to Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Manuel R. Denton, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Luther E. Ritchey Jr. and there were additional remains which could not be specifically identified.

There will be a group burial representing the entire crew and including the remains of Denton, Ritchey, and the remaining unidentified crew remains.  These Heroes of the Vietnam War will be laid to rest in the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery (AMC) on 07 August, 2008 at approximately 1245 hours from the Old Chapel at Ft Myers.

PGR will be there - standing tall, silent and proud in honor of this group of Heroes.  We will mount an Honor Flag Line at the Old Chapel services, follow the procession to graveside, and stand an Honor Line there.
