WELCOME HOME MISSION UPDATE:

Sgt. Matthew Gobble, Greensboro, NC August 11, 2008 * Note date change*

Sgt. Matt Gobble is CONFIRMED to arrive home on August 11, 2008. He will be arriving at 8:49 PM Monday evening at PTI Airport in Greensboro.

See attached map: http://tinyurl.com/6phzco

We will be staging at Piedmont Triad International airport at 8:25pm. We will meet in the DEPARTURES short-term parking lot. Please come with flags and banners, to welcome our hometown hero!

From PTI airport, we will escort Matt and his family to Thomasville, NC where the community will be awaiting his arrival downtown at the “Big Chair”.

See Attached Map: http://tinyurl.com/6s7u6p

The tentative plan is to travel 25 miles via 68S to 311 to 85S to 109S into downtown Thomasville.

We will have LEO from the Thomasville City Limits at this point. I will be working on a LEO escort from High Point to Thomasville, especially since the escort will take place after dark. If you have reflective gear, please bring it and be prepared to wear it.

I will be monitoring flight information in case of delays or early arrivals. And will post any new information I receive as soon as I receive it.

Sgt. Gobble knows we will be celebrating his arrival home with him and is looking forward to meeting us, as we are him!

If you can join us, please do so- welcome home missions are the HAPPY missions!

WELCOME HOME
SGT MATTHEW GOBBLE
WOUNDED WARRIOR
12 AUGUST 08

Mike Gobble, father of SGT Matthew Gobble, has invited the Patriot Guard to greet his son as he returns from the battlefield in Iraq.    SGT Gobble received multiple shrapnel wounds while defending his position and his brothers.   We lost 9 heroes during this battle and many others were wounded.

SGT Gobble is scheduled to arrive at the Greensboro-Triad Airport on Tuesday, 12 AUG 08.   There are no further details at this time.

I have attached a link from the Stars & Stripes with an account of the battle.   You will note that CPL Pruitt Rainey, who's service we will be attending in Burlington on 23 July 08, is also mentioned in this account.

Please follow the thread for updated information as it becomes available.   I know you all will want to be there to give this courageous warrior a warm and heartfelt,  Welcome Home Hero!
