With tears in my eyes for all that this Marine has survived and done for Our country I send out my thoughts for his family and friends. The fact that Troy Mitchell is no longer with us here on earth is saddening. My tears are for his family and friends that are left without his presence to carry on. It is to them that I give my thoughts and prayers although they will not bring your soldier home to you maybe it will bring you some measure of peace that he is with our Great and Wonderful Lord and is awaiting you in Heaven. I am awaiting my chance to stand in honor of this man, A Great American Hero.
To Ret. Gunny Master Srgt. Troy Mitchell, Thank you for your service and for offering of yourself even after you time on this Earth was through, you helped to save 7 lives and have touched so many, Thank you will never be enough but it is all I can offer, except my time as I stand in honor of you a great man, husband, father, brother, Marine, American.

Standing by to give honor to another of our country's heros.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

I'm upset about this. I would often run into Troy and we would inevitably talk about our times in. Seems we both served in the same location during Bosnia. Apparently, my pilots droped ordy on target based on intel Troy had some hand in. Or he knew the guys out there sending it in, I don't really remember.

I do remember calling him to get a car unlocked for a lady. When she went to pay, he said "I owe Doc one" and told her this one was on him. I think Troy did this quite often and that's really a grand thing to do when you're a small business relying on those $40 call outs to keep ya fed.

I'm going to be there, but first I need to be in class for the morning. I will get there a little later than most, but get there i will. I don't even know what to say to the family, friends of this Marine. So I'll simply stand a flag line with as much respect as Troy deserves. I will take his caring lessons and apply them to my already abundant stock pile and use them when I need to.

Paramedic school I can catch up on next week. I have one final chance to thank Troy and I will do so. Merlin, I'm at your service. Standing by for orders.

Another completed mission with only minor problems. Seems Jackson’s PD does not do funeral escorts “due to insurance regulations”. We had a private escort service (3 cars, 1 bike). We were asked to provide coverage for the intersections, which we accomplished. The only problem was that the escort car that was to guard the rear of the procession open the road when only one parking lot had been emptied. The escort left 75% of the procession without coverage. Everyone made it to the Mitchell Family Cemetery without escort it just took much longer.
I want to thank everyone who made this mission, approx 40 bikes and 6 cages, on a bright sunny afternoon. I appreciate the support and I know the Mitchell family does as well.
