Part two of welcome home staging has moved to 3:00 pm today.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updated 19 OCT 09 @ 2337est by Sandy9999 Welcome Home - Hill AFB, Ogden, Utah - Monday Night, 19 Oct 2009
Staging will be at Hill's South Gate Visitors Center at 10:45 - 11:00 PM. Directions to the South Gate; take Exit 331 (N Hill Field Road); proceed North to the top of the hill. Staging will be in the parking lot on the right just before the guard station. Times are subject (and likely) to change so please monitor the mission thread for any updates.
Because of OPSEC, we cannot give out the unit name, number of troops, or an exact arrival time until staging. I can tell you that our Cache Valley Ride Captain, John "Spider" Tramutolo is expected on this flight. Our former PGR Utah State Captain, Kelly "Tinman" Crouse is returning on another flight along with some returning fighter jets. We often are not notified of return info for these additional smaller groups. John "Scooby" Jenkins is the Hill AFB Ride Captain, 801-721-4866. Important Hill AFB entry requirements for riders: Picture ID, DOT approved helmet, long sleeve upper garment (brightly colored during the day, reflective at night), long pants, full fingered gloves, eye protection (windshield doesn't meet requirement), and sturdy over the ankle boots.
For those that have not participated in a Hill AFB Welcome Home, please understand, the arrival times have changed many times during past missions. Sometimes 4 or 5 times for the same Welcome Home. You need to stay informed and check for updates often. Otherwise you may show up in the middle of the night and find nobody there. If you haven't signed up for the short notice text this might be a good time to do so. This is the best way to get late notice updates. For more information, please check the Utah Forum under "Get notified of short notice missions by text message!" __________________________________________________________________________ The Patriot Guard has been invited to Welcome Home a unit from Hill Air Force Base, 19 Oct 2009.

We must never forget who gets the credit for the Freedoms we have, of which we should be eternally grateful. I watched the flag pass by one day, It fluttered in the breeze. A young Marine saluted it, And then he stood at ease.. I looked at him in uniform So young, so tall, so proud, With hair cut square and eyes alert He'd stand out in any crowd. I thought how many men like him Had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil How many mothers' tears? How many pilots' planes shot down? How many died at sea How many foxholes were soldiers' graves? No, freedom isn't free. I heard the sound of Taps one night, When everything was still, I listened to the bugler play And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times That Taps had meant "Amen," When a flag had draped a coffin. Of a brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands With interrupted lives . I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea Of unmarked graves in Arlington. No, freedom isn't free. (Author Unknown)
