This is a Confirmed ANC Mission - Planning is Underway
William Louis Wagner, died in Houston, Texas on June 12th, 2008, after a brief illness. A retired U.S. Air Force pilot, Wagner served on active duty for 30 years, including combat tours in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
He will be laid to his final rest on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) on 22 September, 2008 at approximately 1300 hours.
PGR has been asked to attend, and we are honored to stand tall, silent and proud for this American Hero of the "Greatest Generation". The mission plan will be published here once completed.
From his daughter, "Annie":
"He flew "the Hump" (China-Burma airlift operation) during World War II as a 19 year-old "90 day wonder" (Officer Candidate School.) During the Vietnam War, Dad piloted a KC-135 tanker out of Guam, in support of the B-52's engaged in the bombings. (Not sure what he flew during Korea). … He had an amazing mind. Growing up, if I needed to do a book report, research project, or wondered about something, he could provide information like an encyclopedia! He had a memory for fine details, dates, events and history the likes of which I've never seen since. I chuckled when he'd remark "Well, that's an interesting take on history..." as we'd watch television or movies. … His legacy is his family. ... We will all remember him well and miss him much. He was a good one."
As she said, "He was a good one!" and he is our Hero, too -- and so shall he be remembered by all!

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of William Louis Wagner, USAF (ret), Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is
one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, William.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or ever eagle flew — And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. - John Gillespie Magee, Jr
