****************STAND DOWN - CONDOLENCES ONLY********************

   We were advised by the funeral director, late last night, that while the family of General Taylor sincerely appreciates our offer to stand in Honor and Respect during his memorial mission, at this time they have chosen to decline that offer.

   Please continue to make your postings as they have been directed to our site and will be able to view all that are made.

   My sincere thanks to all who may have been making plans to attend these memorial services.
Respects,
Joe

*****   Pending Mission of Honor for Brigadier General (retired) David S. Taylor, Charleston, WV, 25 July 2008 *****

America has recently lost another hero. Brigadier General (Retired) David S. Taylor, 79, of Charleston passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008.

General Taylor spent his last four months in Roanoke, Va., with family, fighting and ultimately succumbing to a neurological disorder called Shy-Dragger Syndrome.

The Patriot Guard Riders have offered to stand up a flag honor line for Mr. Taylor's memorial service, scheduled for 25 July 2008, 1100 hours at the 130th Airlift Wing, Yeager Airport, Charleston, WV. The funeral director is certain the family would like to have the PGR present, but will confirm that with them this evening.

Please monitor this thread for further details.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to BG David Taylor for his service to our country. Over the years, many have chosen to stay at home during wars/conflicts, but it’s the “warriors” who make the difference…the ones who give of themselves, the ones who give up time with family and loved ones…yes, they are the ones who will always be remembered as the true heroes. May God give an extra measure of strength and comfort to the family and loved ones of General Taylor at this most difficult time. I've been around the 130th long enough to remember when General Taylor would frequent our base, and I remember him as a fine gentleman.

   May your family, friends and community find comfort and healing in God's mercy.  May they also realize that you continue to watch over them from your rightful place among the Angels.

   It will be my privilege to stand in Honor and Respect of another American Hero, if the invitation is extended.

   Rest in eternal peace Brigadier.  Your time on earth is over and your tour of duty is now complete.  Others have the watch.  God Speed Sir.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Brig. Gen. (ret) David S. Taylor. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, David.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
