As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.

D-ring,

You will be sorely missed, I will never forget you and the fact that you volunteered for a second forward air controller tour, with 2/7 this time, in afghanistan, vice iraq (with me, last summer)...and you did it without complaint and with a positive "can-do" attitude that only you could display 24/7. Your toughness and total dedication to your brothers to the left and right of you, and to your command, will be someting that i will strive to emulate and accomplish, half as well as you did, for the rest of my life. God speed, fair winds and following seas, you are a hero and i will miss you.
