Final update for the mission for Pfc. Grant Dampier, Merrill Wis. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Waid Funeral Home, 301 Eagle Drive, Merrill. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. We will assemble at the Americinn , which is directly next door to the funeral home where services are to be held. Please be there by 8:30 a.m. Friday. We will then line up for the visitation and for those who would remain throughout the service, we will line the street as the processional leaves.Thank you. Lets make a good showing for the family and community of this fallen hero. Mac

DoD Identifies Army Casualties
The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were
supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.  They died in Baghdad, Iraq, on May 15,
when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle during combat
patrol operations.  Both soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th
Infantry Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, Fort Carson, Colo.

Killed were:

Staff Sgt. Marion Flint Jr., 29, of Baltimore, Md.

Pfc. Grant A. Dampier, 25, of Merrill, Wis.

Pfc. Dampier was born in Wisconsin Rapids. There are a bunch of us that grew up with him. He will be missed. I will be standing buy for further orders.
