We lost a Good Police officer and friend on Saturday.

Donald Morrison and his wife Janet went out for a Saturday bike ride.  A car cut in front of them and they collided with the car. His wife Janet is still in the hospital.

Don has many accomplishments on the Belvidere PD; he was the first K-9 officer in Belvidere. He also started the school resource officer program

Don and Janet are long time members of the local HOG chapter.
We are not sure if the PGR will be involved at this time. Please watch this thread for any updates.

May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow.  For his unselfish dedication to Protect and Defend the citizens of his community he is a hero and will never be forgotten.  Our prayers for a speedy and full recovery of Officer Morrison's wife Janet who was also injured in this accident.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

A Prayer for Our Soldiers' Families

Heavenly Father, we pray for the safe return home of our soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. We ask that you give our military commanders and political leaders wisdom and courage to fulfill their daunting responsibility. Lord, we implore you to please remember the families of these brave men and women. Bless the wives, parents, children and siblings of our fighting forces and give them solace and comfort. If it be your will, bring their loved ones home swiftly, sound in mind and body.

We pray these things in the name of the Son, the Father and the Holy Ghost,

Amen

As soon as I read the account of what happened on a beautiful day, it reminded me of a friend we lost last year.  While I doubt that any of us knew Don, we know the support his wife and family will need.

Thank you for Keeping us all Safe and away from Harm.

"The Thin Blue line Just got Thinner."

The Final Inspection

The policeman stood to face his God, which must always come to pass.

He hoped his boots were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Policeman. How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulder's and said. "No Lord, I guess I ain't,

Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint."

I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough,

and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are awfully tough.

"But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got too steep.."

And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fear."

"If you've got a place for me here Lord, It needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the saints often trod.

As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, Policeman. You've borne your burdens well.

Come walk a beat in Heaven's streets, you've done your time in Hell."
