Eugene Tester, 69, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home. A memorial service is planned at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at Federated Church in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Doug Dent officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Gene was a BT3 which is the Navy's designation for a Boilerman Technician Third Class Petty Officer. Same as an E-4 in all services. He was stationed on the USS Cabildo, an LSD-16 ship, in the Mid-Pacific, and Korean Theaters from 1957-61.
We will stand the Flagline until the Service starts. Then from the time the Service ends until we escort Gene to his final resting place in Knollwood Memorial Gardens. We will setup a Flagline at the Cemetery until the Family leaves, then we will dismiss.
Staging: We will stage from 10:30am in the Perkins Restaurant parking lot on the corner of I-94 and Highway 210 in Fergus Falls.
Briefing at 11:00am, ride to the Church.
Setup Flagline from 11:15am (Family arives at 11:30am) to 1:30pm. We will resume Flagline before Service ends then Escort to the Cemetery. Cagers will stand the Flagline until we leave the Chuch, then dismiss. This is subject to change with the weather, and number of bikes.
Dismiss: when Family leaves, approx. 2:30-3:00pm.
#1, BE SAFE. Watch the weather. At this time (Thursday night), it is supposed to sprinkle on us on Saturday with a high of 47. Remember to be self sufficient (clothes, water, food,etc). Remember your 3X5 Flag.

Thank you for your Service and my Freedoms. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. I am grateful to live in a country made up of volunteers like you. Your choice to protect our Nation and put your self on the line can never be repaid.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of BT3 Eugene Tester, USN Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is
one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.
Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Eugene.
Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.
Morning
Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
